Donald, I don't get this. You ask about the colour of a specific part, but really don't want input on accuracy? Now, I'm not an expert (I prefer to stick to English when I'm writing, rather than a corrupted German), but I do have the Tiger II kit in progress, and I totally get why you won't bother with correcting everything. Because apparently, just about everything needs correcting. But guess what, I'm not correcting it all myself either.
I know from previous builds that you do more or less strictly OOB, but I took the liberty of pointing out the shock absorber as the painting suggested it works differently than the real thing, and it is an easy fix. Assuming you have an interest in how the real thing works, that is.
But, as you will surely point out, it is your build, and you do with whatever you please. I really could not care less.

It's not that I don't care about accuracy as stated by a previous poster, I'm just not that important that every nut, bolt and wire is in the exact position as designated by the Experten. As for the part I asked about I was pretty sure that it was a fire extinguisher. from what I have seen the Germans at that time painted the various parts with what paint they had at hand at that time. As for the interior colors, there were a limited number of these vehicles produced, and I doubt that anyone has a record as to how each one was painted. This is why I'm painting the lower part of the hull with the red oxide, the upper will be white.
Good luck with the Tiger II , there is a lot of issues there.

Ps. thanks for the info on the shock absorber I have corrected it, the instructions had it silver there and everyone should know that you can't always trust the instructions.

Name calling aside (Samantha - surely you can come up with something a bit more original than that) - lower hull in red primer, upper in elfenbein, which was an off white/cream colour, not pure white.

Na I'm not to original, the white will get durtied up so off white / bright white , not much difference there.

OK enough of that.
Now back to the build.
I am trying something a little different with this tiger, I'm assembling the Engine Compartment apart from the hull. There are a lot of push pin marks that may be visible after completion .
I assembled the Radiator Grill Boxes after filling the spots on the fins , then installed them on the side walls and filled the inside spots shown.

Now for some more painting.
Hey does anyone know where the Battery boxes go. The idiotic instructions have them going under the rear ammo box, that can't be right, how would you ever service them?

Not that I would ever aspire to build so large a beast as this but I always enjoy your "build reviews." I especially like the photos of the SBS build as this helps immensely in visualizing the commentary you provide via the text.

Continuing on.
Note how nice and square the rear hull is.
The rear panel is suppose to fit inside the two side panels that were added.
Well that will be corrected later, now it's the Radiator assemblies
You have to be careful witch way you position the Raditor tops
as the mounting point on the bottom connector is two different distances from the edge. I couldn't get every thing else to fit any other way.

I drilled out the lifting points.
I don't think it Maters which way you place the drive for the fan, that is unless you are doing a build with everything opened up.
Once everything is assembled you aren't going to see anything here.
Man this build is really turning into a pain in the backside.

I've been working on the Transmission and Drive gear box, this is just out of the box.
For a really detailed build check out Sam Dwyers build his facebook info. is posted somewhere above.
There's a lot of wasted detail here, that would have been better used making the visible parts more accurate.
This is the same that Trumpeter used in their Tiger II Once the Hull is closed up you'r not going to see much of it.
I'm going to work on the Engine next, just a lot of small subassemblies.

Here is a Pic. of the Engine compartment from my King Tiger build,for more on that check the Large Scale section of the Forems here.
As you can see a lot of the engine and other parts are going to be hard to see. I'm not going to install the fuel tanks that go under the radiators.
Well it's back to finishing the Engine.

I've finally finished the Engine, I know the colors probably aren't correct but I think it looks good.
Here the Carbs and their Fuel Lines are installed.
You aren't going to see much of this.
Now more of the plumbings installed.

There are issues with the Air Cleaners for this kit.
When Trumpeter designed this kit they made the center square of the Air Cleaners too small.
The Tiger II parts are app. 26mm by 26mm . The ones in this kit are 25mm by 26mm. Unfortunately the short side has the notches where the end covers go. You should add about 1mm shim to each side.

I'll have more on this later.
Pic. #59 & #60 show the Oil Tank installed wrong, I have corrected it.

I am gluing the front of the Engine to the Firewall before installing it all in the hull. This is an experiment, will it work ? Hey who knows, it seems more logical this way than trying to do it with the Firewall allready installed in the Hull.
The scoops that come off the Exhaust shroud, the tops curve the wrong way. I'm pretty shure that I installed the right curved parts on the right sides. Well maby I screwed up there. It might be better to install the curved parts after every thing is installed.
Here the Engine is glued to the Firewall, if you do it this way besure the rear of the Engine is level with the bottom of the Firewall.

I started sliding the assembly down while prying the rear of the Hull open wider.
Almost there.
Now glue it all down.
That went better than I thought it would.

I've no Idea now mat, I got this one during the holidays when Squadron Shop had a sale.

Here I have the two Ducts that run from the floor to the side walls installed, I'm not shure of their color so I painted the so.
The inner rear plate is being used to hold the rear of the hull in position. There is some warpage in the rear hull.
The 2 ducts are a soft plastic but go together with liquid glue, you'r not going to remove the seams but they won't be seen anyway.
Here I installed the plates that go under the radiator units, I didn't install the fuel tanks that go under them (not seen)
