Welcome Mr. Clark!
A pink Stuart would definitely add some variation to the color schemes. But errr... I don't think I could make myself paint anything pink unless it was for my granddaughter.

It is a bit on an 'In Joke'. Kelly and I have done a few Group Builds together and painting a model pink is an on going discussion...

Nice work Paul. An interesting solution... I bet you were so careful in cleaning out the wheels from those tracks.

Only two slight cuts to the fingers, the plasters then acted as 'buffers' against further cuts .

All the best,

Paul

Thanks Gary, no pink, but it will be done soon on another model. Its a way to remember a memory from the past. Will explain when I finally finish it.

Yeah, My fault for all the Removed by.... I just couldn't remember how to attached images through FB. Created a Imgur acct and hopefully it works

YES it work!! Picture for discussion only

Okay..

Build is coming along better now that the warp issue is fixed. Took some time, patience, C-Clamps and CA to fix. I think I did a good job for being the first warped issue so far. Have read Dragon is famous for warp pieces.

Sanded all the wheels, tracks and some other pieces. Assembled the tracks but haven't added any primer. All this work was done before I joined this campaign.

====

I had a few hours to work on the Greif this past Holiday weekend. As you can see in the pic below that there are gaps and fitting issues that need to be fixed.

After mixing Squadron green putty with Tamiya extra thin cement too thin-out the putty. I used an old brush to fill-in the gaps. Then I added some extra putty to the already mixed putty for some thickness and finished off the rest.

After a day or two of drying. It was time to bring out the Tylenol, sand paper and a flat block for some repairs.

I also had some painting time over the weekend. Still need to finish has you can see in the pics. I used Tamiya fine surface primer rattle can. Then I sprayed the track wheels, front tire hubs and the upper interior of the Greif RAL7021 Dunkelgrau (AK704) by AK Interactive for the base coat.

Ill be using AK interactive Rubber/Tires (AK720) paint for the tires and the road wheels rubber.

For the tools, ill be painting them with AK Interactive Wood Base (AK779), Wood Grain (AK781) and Gun Metal (AK798).

Greifs whole Interior been premiered and waiting for the base coat of RAL7021. Im going to use the hairspray technic for the first time. If I just sprayed the base coat (RAL7021) over the primer (Tamiya can) then start chipping, the primer would show and it wouldn't look right (imo). My questioned is, what primer did the German used before they sprayed the whole 250 RAL7021? I notice in the hairspray chipping video, that red primer was used. Was it used also on the 250s?

All comments are welcome.

Thanks
JohnA

Nice start John. Just watch those Idler adjusting 'rods'. I have learned to leave that part of the assembly til after I have wrestled the rest. The number of times I broke them off..... and lost them...

John,
You're off to a great start! I haven't built a half-track in a long time, so I'll be watching with interest.

Thank you both for the comments!! This build is going together nicely after the first step issues. Hopefully ill have some time over the weekend for some painting and detailing.

I'm, what part does the Tylenol play in sanding the putty? Or does the process just give you a headache?

Before you edit again....

The Germans used a dark red oxide primer for most vehicles and the SDKFZ 250 was one of them, but be wary of using that as your chipping base. It will likely appear too red and overdone.

Hi everyone. Thought I would share another video on chipping as it seems to be a hot topic. This is another guy who has a lot of good videos on You Tube. I especially like that he doesn’t get too complicated with his techniques. https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=778s&v=xsceaIRCFyU

Hope everyone’s build is going well.

Thanks for the Info! I'll see if hobby lobby cares it. Ill give it a try BUT not over do the chipping. There's not a whole lot of pictures that shows the inside of the Greif, that shows any chipping or fading from the .

Steve,
Great choice for the campaign! I was hoping to see at least one of these done.

Well my Panzer IV Ausf. D Tropical is about finished. Assembling the tracks now. Once I have them dry fitted I will start the painting process.

Here are a few shots I taken this afternoon.

Next post should be in color.
