Mike, I like how your JEEP turned out. I finished my build way back then went off and did other stuff. But after looking at the great work here plus too much time on my hands, jut thought MAYBE!

Thought I'd share a little progress on a sub-vignette I've been working on. For now, you'll need to imagine a map unfolded over the GPW's hood.
Uh-oh, I've just given myself two more figures to paint! ... Did somebody say "plenty of time?" 🤭 Lol!

Some progress. Based on reference photos, the rear seat is similar to the front seats, whereas the instructions just have you take a slice out of the part that is sat on, so I cut to match references, using cardboard from a wine box to fill in. I'll take my chances on everything fitting properly later. Everybody from Down Under recognize the logo?

Ben, that Kubel looks cool and pushes me from a maybe to a definite on building the standard version some time soon. Questions; what manufacturer, what scale, what are those things that look like windows but seem to be different sizes?

I am also curious about the "twist" and what those frames might be. My initial thought was some kind of frames to hold radio equipment ...

The base kit is just the retooled Tamiya 1/35th scale one, with a few bits and pieces from the spares box added and some details done in evergreen and two-part epoxy putty.

@mike: your cleanly built Jeep deserves a big congratulations!
Well, as far as I see, a Kübelwagen Club slowly forms here so I decided to present a short status report on my Kübel. It is waiting for paint - I had no time for that recently but I hope the next two weeks I find the right moment for some spraying
The engine bay finished and before masking it looked like this:
And for the first time I used Tamiya paint (and not the light grey primer) as a priming. It covers perfectly. I plan to paint with AmmoMIG late war german colors...

It is the Kübelwagen Engine Set from Tamiya, sold separately but fits 100% the engine bay and it looks cool with some added wiring

Zsolt - is that the Tamiya Kubelwagen engine maintenance set that comes with one figure.
Anyone - can anyone explain what that third radio box that comes with the radio car kit is for, the one that seems to be stored underneath the platform on which the other two sit. I don't see any pictures with wires leading from it to the other two. Is it a spare or does it have a different function?

Yes, that is it. Includes a figure and also a wheel with extra details if someone wants to depict a wheel-change situation

Update 2.
My Kubel-kiddies are nowhere near ready for prime-time but it seemed time for an update. The hands look like mannequins, everything has a brand new look, and there are construction misfits to address, but I think seeing them without heads is a nice touch.

I'll post an update as well. The pictures aren't great (they're pretty bad actually) 
After priming everything i painted it in a mix of Tamiya Olive Drab and Dark Yellow. Perhaps not the most close match, but it looks nice anyway. After that some detail painting was done with Valejo and Ammo paints. Here's a bunch of jeep parts on sticks:
And the jeep itself:
The stowage is more or less painted as well, but on other sticks somewhere. And after a week of being missing, the carpet monster coughed up the steering wheel again. Sometimes you feed it, sometimes it feeds you
Next it's a decals, varnish, putting it together and weathering. And work on the GMC of course

Wikipedia: Swing music was a notable example of wartime radio music. Even Nazi Germany fielded some swing music bands despite Hitler's objections to "decadent Western music." After the end of World War II, this music escalated until the paranoia of the Cold War made this kind of music irrelevant after the Soviet menace (under Joseph Stalin) replaced the Nazi menace (under Adolf Hitler).
