Yesterday I got an email from Photobucket stating that my account has been restricted for third party hosting. Sure enough, there are no more photos in my build logs. From what I can tell they want $400 a year to turn this back on. Needless to say that ain't happening. Now I really dislike build logs, even old ones, without their photos, so if anyone has any suggestions for correcting this unfortunate situation, I'm listening.

I just went back and looked at some of my old posts that I posted pictures using Photobucket, they all had the pictures still intact. Is that what your talking about ? I have not recieved any email from them yet.The only upgrade I pay for is $12 a year to be ad free.

I would be willing to do the 12 dollars, but this is what I'm seeing for pricing
Pricing: The cost of a PLUS account varies according to how much storage you need! Please note, all subscriptions are billed annually.
2 GB - Free
Ad Free (no additional storage or bandwidth) - $2.49 / Month
50 GB - $59.99 / Year
100 GB - $99.99 / Year
500 GB - $399.99 / Year
When you upgrade to PLUS:
Premium Support. You have direct access to our tech support team. Email our PLUS Support Team
Storage. You get more space for your media.
Bandwidth: Bandwidth is a measure of the resources needed to display your media outside of Photobucket (example: images linked to your blog).
Plus 50 offers 52GB of Storage and No Linking or 3rd Party Hosting
Plus 100 offers 102GB of Storage, Unlimited Linking and No 3rd Party Hosting
Plus 500 offers 502GB of Storage, Unlimited Linking and Unlimited 3rd Party Hosting
So unless I'm not understanding, the plus 500 is the only one that will allow my links to be used here.

That's probably because you are still within PB's "limits". Once you surpass those, i'm willing to bet you'll get dinged like J Rutman and some other that have posted their constant PB issues.

What are the limits? I only have 56 pictures on Photobucket, and now all my posted photos are blocked. I don't post too many pictures, so I thought I would be ok. I saw that email, but I thought it was a trojan, so I deleted it without opening it. Is there another site that is inexpensive/free that anyone can recommend?

Try www.imgur.com. So far it works well for hosting, until they join the PB bandwagon.

I have yet to receive an e-mail and my links are still active.
I Am sure i Will receive an email at some point. Is it possible to go back and get your pictures downloaded despite the links not working or are the pictures simply locked until you pay?
I guess it is imgur from now on.

The photo hosting here works great. I have got away from photobucket because they have become so difficult to work with. I now use 'One Drive' for storage.
When I return to the US, anything photos that I post here will also be hosted here. It works very well here.

I had no email received but my pictures gone on 3rd party sites. My blog messed up. I am really sad. I understand that they need money - but this is just like blackmailing. Give extra services for a fee that's OK. But to increase price OF THE SAME SERVICE from 0 to USD400... INSANE. If they say USD 40-50 per year, I think about it. But 400?

Thanks Ivan, I'll try Imgur, I can't believe Photobucket does not offer a lower priced plan, they must want to get rid of all the "dead weight" of the free hosting customers. I would host my photos here, but that only helps me here, not on other sites.

Guys this is happening to everyone, ipmsborinqueneers.com, largescaleplanes, ipmsusa, britmodellers, everyone its getting the pictures banned until they upgrade tothe p500 plan for $400. DNModels just sent a email apologizing for the same problem. this is sick, I have all my works in photobucket for the last 5-6 years....

So there really isn't anything that can be done to the old posts besides paying the ransom. If I update photos it would update the blog and bring it up like a new post, right? Some of mine are pretty old, so I don't think that would be appropriate.

I find Photobucket is not what it used to be more adds and constant when you click on anything. The new format stinks you can not magnify the pictures any more. I just used it and after a few pictures it freezes.
I have about 200 pictures to up load on my scratch built models that I have on the bench right now and should I look for a new host as well or wait until I start having problems with them.

I started a petition on change.org a probably futile attempt but it's worth a go
