Finally finished my BMO-T it was a fun build. It was truly a Trumpeter kit, with photoetch parts that could have been plastic. I still had a great time with it.

Hallo!
Here's my progress on my project in the campaign: Trumpeter's kit 01507 - Sd.Kfz.7 Late.
I liked the model's engine. It is detailed, but it requires further work.
Here are photos:

Good luck.

I'm in a little late...sort of. I was originally going to go with a Waffentrager, but went with the LAV-25 instead. It's been in my stash for a bit and this gives me an excuse to build it. I like the LAV family of vehicles. I've built several of them so I figured this would be a casual build.

I have a habit of starting a build them stopping. I've started building these simple builds, documenting them, and then posting the builds when I have finished them. That's what I did here...this is probably done over a couple of months, jumping between several builds.

So I went with Trumpeter's (00349) USMC LAV-25 "Piranha" in 1/35 scale. The box art shows an overall sand vehicle. It comes with their OIF USMC Figure set. The actual kit doesn't offer markings for an overall sand LAV. The actual included schemes are a 3-color and an overall white UN peacekeeper deal.
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_00

Assembly is pretty straight-forward. The molds are showing their age a bit and parts may require a bit more clean-up. Fit on some of the hatches was a bit off.

trumpy-2019_LAV-25_01

One thing I noticed...the kit did not include side-view mirrors to mount on the front-light assemblies. This really annoyed me, to be honest.
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_02

The turret was a bit of a mess. The basket was badly warped and fit of the turret upper and lowers was...pretty bad. Trumpeter sends nylon mesh for the turret basket. I should have changed it out for metal mesh.
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_03

Assembly essentially done. I had planned on dressing this thing out a bit more. At this point, I really just wanted to finish a basic OOB build.
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_04
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_05

I went with a simple overall-sand paintjob. That's what I had in mind when I bought the kit and I'm not going to let Trumpeter's lack of markings for it change that. I'm stubborn like that. In a final act of defiance, I rattle-canned it sand.
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_06

I gave it a light-weathering. I did not use any markings. I even used the stubby kit antennas. No extra stowage, crew, etc.
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_07
trumpy-2019_LAV-25_08

And I am calling this one done. As much as I griped about this one, I didn't hate the build. The UN markings will find a home, possibly on this LAV. I'll probably re-work it at some point, probably as one of the loaner LAVs used by the 82nd Airborne during Desert Shield.

Anyway, thanks for the campaign. I'll stick two photos in the gallery and return to spectator mode for the rest of this campaign.

I finished up my Object 704 SPH painted in a Cobra Command livery in homage to the GI Joe series.

The kit was such a quick and easy build. I really like the look of the Object 704, but can only imagine how cramped the fighting compartment would have been.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else's builds.

Well, here I am with a change of plans and new build for this Campaign- Soviet КВ-1 "Беспощадный":

My brother-in-law turns 50 in 2 months time and as he is a big fan of Soviet WWII tanks(he already owns a T-34/76 built from me), I thought (and even got support from..... SWMBO!!!!) the legendary KV-1 would be a nice (human-touch) present for his jubilee.

Will use Trumpy's #00358 kit, 2 Aber PE sets(#35190 and #35193), RB Models ZIS-5 tank barrel(#35B09) and ZIS-5 ammo(#35P13), while ammo boxes will come from MiniArts Soviet Ammo Boxes with Shells set(#35261).

Here is my starting picture:

My intention is to build at least one more kit for this Campaign.

Hello all.
Almost forgot about this campaign, but I will join with Trumpeters 1/35 scale s.F.H. 18 15cm Field Howitzer, item 02304.
Looks like an easy build for the weekend and I read some good reviews on it, so looking forward to build this one.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Sure-it is a nice kit, Robert!

Just bear in mind that there is a mistake in the colour sheet- the red-and-white poles are given erroneously.

I ended up with my model in the campaign. These are the final photos of the Trumpeter's Sd.Kfz.7 Late.

It was a pleasure for me to participate in the campaign.

Gentlemen,

This is my entry photo into this campaign. This is the Trumpeter T-72B Mod1990 kit I am beuilding in 1/35 scale. I already have a T-72 a/m from Eduard (made for the Tamiya kit, but surely can use many parts for this Trumpy, too).

The machine looks very good, given that the model is quite old. Congratulations. I expect his sequel.

Thanks Kalin!

Fenders added-what is left from them, actually.

Lot of soldering and a lousy instruction by Aber- had to use kit's organic plastic fenders as refference in order to understand what goes where...

Next I'll take care of some pin marks and will add some texture to hull and turret.
Will finnish towing ropes and add the last plastic parts.
Some shell impacts are a must.

I am also considering adding some more(bent out of shape) fender supports for the missing fenders parts...will see...

Thanks Owen!

I played around with some copper sheet, the tip of the soldering gun, diluted Mr.Surfacer 500 and this is what came out:

Added an open ammo box with some AP shots on the stern- I'm sure this is not realistic at all, but as I build the KV for my brother-in-law I'm sure he'll enjoy having it there

I'll bring the KV to a modelling meeting tonight and will listen carefully to what the pro's have to say.

Angel, well done! I look forward to start painting and weathering him. But it looks quite curious. Will not any soldier be there?

So I made start with the kit. Build is pretty straight forward, fit is good.
Finished the front carriage and wheels. Sprayed with Mr. Color Black primer 1500, base coat with Tamiya German Grey, finished with semi-gloss from Mr. Color.
Pictures

The rubber wheels have some flash, will use a new razor blade to remove that.
Next assembly will be the gun itself.
More to come soon.

Nice clean build sofar,Robert!

Although I'm not a big fan of heavy weathering(too lazy for it) I spent last 2 weeks adding filters, oils, various muds and dusts to the KV-1 I build for my brother-in-law jubilee.

I have watched several times all series of Adam Wilder's splendid KV-1 weathering videos, so I copied some of his weathering steps and applied some changes to others.

This is where I am now:

What remains are wheels and tracks...but I have almost one and a half months to do them...

Thanks Angel for the heads up.
I think a two weeks weathering should be your standard. Amazing result so far. Hats of for you as the self declared impatient but scratchiest patience builder.
The KV just looks Superb!

Thanks Tamas!

Yeah-a lot of dirt on this KV-1...
I am aware the KV's did not live long enough to get into that battered state.Yet this particular vehicle served for almost 18 months before being damaged beyond repair(off course within this service time there were 2 major repairs/overhauls).

And thanks Robert!
The fact that I am building it as a jubilee present gives me the motivation to do the (d.mned) heavy weathering.
Lucky me- a man turns 50 only once in a lifetime

Heavy weathering! You got it ... I think you should often do it.

Gents,

Slow progress on my built as I ordered the ET model PE upgrade set and had to wait a bit to receive.

In the meantime I have improved the turret with Surfacer 600 to imitate fabric look. I had to use two different pieces of clothes because the first attempt was way to big to for the 1/35 scale but finally it looks very good.

I have under-scribed the cladding to improve depth and now it looks as it was applied later onto the kit and not molded together with the turret. I love it.

Since the photo was taken I have glued 200+ ET model PE cladding fasteners to the turret and onto the hull, too. The Trumpeter kit also includes them but the ET models version looked easier to be removed from the etch-frame. It was very easy and fast so I encourage everybody to apply the photo etch fasteners - it is worthy on the finished model.
