im not yet decided for marking but maybe choose egyptian

Majid, a 1973 War Egyptian vehicle (if you decide to do it) would be really cool.

Thanks Jerry. I have started building it and am very close to completing the hull. So far no issues have been encountered. I'll post pictures of the WIP later. The hull alone seems impressive in size even at 1/35th scale.

ok so here is my update, sorry i haven't been around much but there are a few issues on the home front at the moment.

so i bought the miniart T34 engine and transmission and i am using the transmission for my ISU 152, so here is my, "ahem" spotlessly clean engine transmission...most of which will be hidden when the vehicle is complete. The last picture is of the transmission bay which is also spotlessly clean lol

David: the tranny looks great!

Small update on my Aerosan: I managed to force the fit to be reasonably decent and proceeded with the rest of the assembly. Primer is next up.

Happy Modeling,

started to build the engine for the kit, this is the miniart one as the standard trumpeter kit doesn't have one.

David, love the ISU transmission and looking forward to it coupled with the engine.

Zon, your Aerosan is coming along nicely - it looks like quite a hassle to mask and paint.

Peter, the Tupolev is quite impressive on the runway with the tiny MAZ (two words I would never expect to see together, but in this context....) - very cool!

Anyway, my HIMARS is fully assembled and ready for weathering:

I didn‘t bother taking any pictures of the interior of the cab, because I didn‘t glue the doors into place, but the layers of paint/clear coat have effectively done the same thing, and I don‘t want to risk opening them. Oh well, the cab isn‘t that detailed anyway....

Now let the weathering begin....

Have fun,

Jerry

@Jbranca - Thanks for your kind judgement and yes, the MAZ is tiny, but nevertheless you can imagine that beast in reality.

Yeah, that HIMARS looks great! How did you do the lights on the front of the cab. Those are one of my weak areas.

Peter and Richard, thank you!

The various lights on this vehicle, I must confess, are SKP‘s lenses and tailights for LMTV/FMTV (162). Anymore I usually indulge in the aftermarket lenses from SKP or Voyager unless the vehicle in question has only tiny convoy lights or something. They don‘t cost much (5-9 Euros) and really look good, I think.

Hi Gentlemen,

I have finished the assembly of the kit, now tracks and sideskirts are on their place. After some filling, sanding and repainting by the glued areas, I have applied the markings and a first protective coat before weathering. It looks way too shiny but I will reapply a more matt-ish coat later. Hope to finish the project before the campaign deadline.

Hi all. Thought I'd give a little update on my getting well soon. Just when you think...hey we are getting somewhere...I can walk again (be it for short distance), my doctors decided on a draw back(they pulled my big toe nail out, just to keep me on the couch for at least another 3 months. Your healing process will benefit from this he said.
So today after one week of pain, healing seems to hurt a lot, I had my second checkup in Bangkok, (location where the did the surgery), another draw back.
Possibly additional surgery, but hey...first we make a CT Scan, due October 18 and after that we will decide.
Well, I hope Christmas 2020 will be a good one.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Well, sh.t happens, Robert!

Let doctors do what they know best, it will be for good.
Look at the bright side of this ordeal-now you have more time to plan next modelling projects.

Gute Besserung,

Tamás - awesome-looking T-72, very low-slung and mean, the way Soviet/Russian armor should look...it‘s coming along great! I‘m looking forward to your further painting/weathering steps.

Jerry

P.S. Thanks for the compliment!

Aloha All,

Peter: well done and congratulations on finishing.

Jerry: Thank you for the kind words. Masking wasn't too bad, except at the instrument panel. Your HIMAS is looking awesome! The paint job is superb.

Tamas: nice work on the T-72.

I've managed to paint the Aerosan. Next up is clear coat and decals.

Hello everyone,
Work on my S-51 is nearing completion. Here are some WIP shots.

I replaced what I assume is an antenna. The kit part broke apart even when I was being careful removing it from the sprue. I use a brass wire and tube as replacement. I got the base from the kit part.

I liked how the sag was pre-molded. This is one of the easiest track assembly I've encountered and I am happy with the results.

I replaced the barrel with an RB Model aluminum one. It looks much better.

For the engine deck, I replaced the grab handles with brass wires. I also used Eureka T-34/76 tow cables.

Also for the engine deck, I assembled this complex looking ladder. It consists of very thin plastic rods and photo etch steps.

This is the result.

And here's how it looks installed.

I'll be taking pictures of this S-51 with most parts dry-fitted.

Thanks,
Joseph
