G'day Friends,
Welcome to the Bury my Heart at Stalingrad Campaign!
The Bury My Heart at Stalingrad Campaign will begin on 2 February 2019 and finish on 1 August 2019.
The scales allowed will 1/6 to 1/144 and encompass air, ground, and figures. All historical, no Sci-fi.
Partially built efforts will be allowed to enable you to complete projects.
If you think something in your stash had served in or about Stalingrad, on either side, it will be accepted.
Our main goal is to have fun, share, learn, and celebrate each other's successes.
I hope to see you and your build here!
Gaz

I have a KV-1 Early in the stash that might work. I'm not an expert on history; I think it's unlikely that any KV-1 early models survived to see the Battle of Stalingrad, and I have not seen anything to indicate they were present, but I suppose it's always possible that one or two might have been lurking about.

Great idea Gaz ! Subject matter is wide open. The opportunity to finish a shelf queen or two makes this campaign a winner.
Boy, do I have things that fill the bill ! Now what should I build/complete ??!!/
Thanks !

I've barely started your current GB idea and you drag me into another one!!
I'm in with a Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B or maybe a Sturer Emil
...and you forgot the word "frozen' from before 'heart'
and when are you going to join my Matchbox build Gaz. Surely you have an ex-Matchbox, Revell re-issue aircraft floating around

Peter,
I knew you couldn't resist! But you'll have time. But you don't have to feel obligated.
I'm doing the Sturm IG 33, too... I have two of them. But I might pick up some Russian steel if any comes my way at a good price.
And another word wouldn't fit in the title box. The title was inspired from a title I saw in my youth. It had a good ring to it.
I don't have any Matchbox kits. I have only been buying models for 4 years and I have only a few Revell kits, none of which were Matchbox re-pops. Trust me... I would have joined if I had something. I have plenty of Hasegawa, Tamiya, Academy, and Dragon kits, though. Ooh...I even have the Gaspatch HS-123. But yeah... I don't have any old stuff. Sorry!

Maybe at next month's club meet. Traditionally, the December meeting is also a swap and sell so you never know your luck.

Well...
Counting me, we have ten interested parties.
Anyone else want to chime in?

Hi Gaz,
Hmmmmm....since your initial proposal, the Dragon Panzer III J in the stash has been calling to me, so count me in! I‘ll be doing one of the ones fielded there by the 24th Panzer Division:

Gaz,
What's your call on the KV-1? Plausible enough to make it?

Mark,
I'll allow it. I honestly don't know much about KV-1 variants. They all look very similar to me.

Mark, not sure what version you have, but there were definitely KV 1 at Stalingrad. From Concord 6509 Stalingrad Inferno
And From Concord 7012 - Stalin's Heavy Tanks

Thanks, Peter! Great reference!
I've got a 1941 small turret so it definitely seems like it would fit.

Howdy Y'all
Peter-thanks for the inspiration. I've got Tamiya's 1/48 KV-1 kit.
Gaz-I'm in, of course. Now I just gotta start and finish the Anzio Annie kit for the Italian campaign.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Hi John A,
Good choice - looks like we‘ll both be doing 24th PD vehicles.
I like the banner with ol‘ Adolf getting his butt kicked, too.

I'm guessing that at proper size, the boot to butt tag won't be easy to decipher.

You guessed it. You would have to be 'in the know'
