A Prime Mover it will be for sure. I will kick off with the Sd.Kfz.8 (DB9)
Half-Track Artillery Tractor. Trumpeter Kit Noº 09538

The kit has some positive reviews for accuracy and good detail. Engine is very well executed and I like that for further detailing.
I have the Nuts & Bolts Noº16 for reference and loads of other 'action photos', so it should be fun.
I hope Trumpeter will release their announced Sd.Kfz.9 'FAMO)' kits for 2020 very soon. That might include a second entry for this campaign.

Happy New Year All!

As just wrote in the PROPOSE of this campaign, I am participating with the Japanese Ground Self Defense Forces JGSDF Type 89 IFV kit from Trumpeter. I will also add the Lion Roar detail-up set to improve the model (at least to a certain level).

Unfortunately could not find a/m track, so I will have to use the one vinyl version from the kit (at least it has nice details).

Great choices, guys. Especially the E-150 is interesting for me as I have that one in the stash.

I have not decided yet, but have a ton of trumpeter kits, so it should be fairly easy to find an interesting build.

Nice choice, I did just the opposite, built the Fahrgestell first. You will find the sink marks on the ammo doors a real pain to remove if you decide to pose them open.

I'm starting a campaign with the TRU 02817 model "Savoia Marchetti SM.79-II Sparviero". I also apply Eduard PE to it.

When you look at these pictures it won't seem like three "sittings" at the bench. This Trumpeter kit is much like a Bronco kit - LOTS of tiny bits! I'm aware of the Trumpeter/Bronco relationship.

Multiple times things went flying but luckily I was able to find all but one piece - tiny and you probably won't miss it. Ugh!





The barrel halves are joined, the muzzle brake not yet. Two other small parts are waiting to be added, but I'm not doing that until I know where the other end connects - it'd be my luck to glue it on and they be way off.

Looks great so far! I see your kit has the infamous split breech block - puttying a seam in a curve is always a party but you took care of it.

I've done a bit more work on the barrel and have most of the trailing arms completed. This gun will be set up for the traveling mode.

It is not just the knock out pin marks Shell. The dirty great big rectangular hole on the rear wall should not be there... It should be a solid sheet of metal all the way across. The hole is because of the moulded in plank parts on the outside. Why they just did not do a separate piece for that is anyone (except an engineer's) guess.

More tips:

Watch out how you fit the PE around the pully on the mast - you need to make sure you put it on the right way and it is easy to do it wrong.
The PE fenders, solder the top plates on the frame before bending anything. If you do not, you will regret it later when it is so warped as to be unusable... which is why I used spare Dragon ones...

The ammo bay doors fall off if someone sneezes.... a lot of weight on the tiny fitment points.

Accuracy -if you want to know:
The ammo compartment actually lacks anything resembling real detail
No reinforcing plates and nuts to stop all the handles being pulled straight through the sheet metal.
No internal braces for the fixed side panels
No nuts matching the bolts in the outside bracing
Lifting 'claw' for the ammo is incorrect, the ends that meet the cross beam look nothing like the real thing (and good luck trying to bend the PE one)

A lot of other bits have accuracy issues to:
Drive sprocket bolt heads located in the wrong place
Rear Idler does not have the correct outside sit of the PE ring
Brake housing hatch covers are wrong type
Driver's and rear cargo hatches have the locks positioned in the wrong places and the 'triangle' on the rear one should have the apex pointing backward, not forward
The drive gear housings are dreadful
Running gear assembly is chunky and lacking in detail
The ammo rounds do not have the rectangular holes in the side of the end caps (Impossible to add to the aluminium one) and the round 'holes' should not be shallow depressions.

A lot of this you might be able to fix from the spares box.

Here is my WIP pic from years ago, which might help you get a feel for the issues. I still hadn't fully detailed it yet. Didn't take a pic in the raw after this one.





Hope I haven't turned you off it, as you can see, it is still worth building.

Nice work on that Italian plane. You already infected me building a plane on Aeroscale. Longtime ago I opened my cabinet with all the Wing things.

Will be following this one. It is worth a build log IMHO. Looks very promising.

I not sure on your model version but I had the Ausf F. model and I had to rebuild the exhaust on it as it was completely wrong. You will find that you will need to hang the metal artillery shell with the crane to keep the lines on the crane taught, unless you plan on having the crane in the storage position or glue them in place.
