Thanks Alex.
The filament is PLA (Polylactic Acid) which is a thermoplastic polymer. Goes in the print head at 1.75mm, extruded though the 0.4mm nozzle.

Great work, GK; a whole lot more interesting now NZ brought this vehicle.

Cheers, Kylie. Your new trucks look pretty sweet - a lot nicer than the earlier generation. Apparently your guys from the Group had borrowed some, but I only heard that claim today.

Moving on to the front of the engine compartment, it’s time for the upper & lower engine grills:

I’ll find out tomorrow night when I catch up with a couple of them. I’ve seen we’re going for overall sand; clearly someone put a lot of thought into that.

One of the side effects of learning as you’re designing is the error rate is high. A review of the bottom of the engine bay revealed that it wasn’t wide enough at the top. So, as I redrew it, I added some additional details.
There may be some redesign of the front end required.

This really an awesome project mate, and not for the faint hearted! I'd love to have a (resin) 3d printer, but SWMO and the bank won't let me... Curious how this will turn out...

Thanks, Erwin. Resin printers & their materials can be pretty pricey. I don’t think I could do a project of this size on a resin printer, just from a cost perspective.
The front end redesign continues.

As I’m building the combat Winnebago closed up, I’m only adding enough detail to it to give the impression of what’s there, not going nuts. The seat frames on the 1:1 are pretty involved structures, which is represented by the recesses on otherwise solid blocks, here.

Added some more detail to the driver’s & commander’s stations, forward, as well as an approximation of the radio rack in the rear compartment.

Thought I’d post a comparison between the current interior design compared to the initial design. More detail & more refined, more accurate, detail.

Waiting for some spare parts for the printer has helped enable (force?) more work on the redesign.
New upper hull:
Finished the rear compartment, less seats (lots of copy/paste there):
With international shipping being what it is, I’ve probably got two more weeks to refine the design.

Mostly finished the upper hull:
Added air conditioning ducting to the hull ceiling. First half:
The rest:
Running out of excuses to redo the front on the hull for the fourth time!

Work continues.
Ongoing fit checks should avoid some of the mismatches I’ve generated to date.
Almost done with the latest - & hopefully last - iteration of the front end.

With work ramping up, time has become a little tight!
Simple projects, like wheel hubs, are simple & quick.
Step 1: draw the cross section of the hub.
Step 2: rotate the section around the axis & add whatever detail is required.
Tyres will be sourced from the Trumpeter 1/16 M-ATV kit.

Astounding work, far past my own small efforts in CAD

Moving on to the stowage redesign. Thought I’d add alignment tabs to the hull and recesses in the bins themselves.
The rearmost stowage bin is for the DUKE electronic countermeasures.

Switched to the right side of the vehicle. Some tricky geometry that needs to be sorted before adding detail.
Also added the underside detail.
As well as the alignment recesses.
Just have to add the battery box to the rear.

Gathered up all of the prototype pieces on one spot. Wow. A lot of trial and error!
The clean sheet “real” model is up to 271 hours, so far. Will spend the weekend cleaning up & gluing to show actual progress.
