Just when you were figuring a way of sneakng the Tiger 1 (Initial) past SWMBO, DML have just given some advance 'teasers' on the next one -the 'Late Model' . Very few details are available yet, but...

3 in 1 kit (again) includng parts for a command version, Illustration of the new cupola and side-skirts in etched brass... emmm, that's it...for a pic of the box art (to put under your pillow and dream of it), go to:

I saw this on the Great Models site last week. They're now taking pre-orders for it for $24. No word on when they're supposed to be released though. Hopefully it'll be as packed as their Initial model was. Maybe even include the zimmerit.

DML hinted that this late Tiger will have more goodies than their initial Tiger...

I sure hope that is true!

I think the problem has been one of availibility.
The Initial Tigers are still in very short supply at my local shops. One shop has sold 12 and has awaiting list for 12 more. Most customers have never even seen it on the shelves. The other two shops have not been able to get them.

When the kit first came out in HK, they had waiting lists there also and are still waiting for a restock.

I'm really looking for the Mid Prod tiger which will be out later this year.

Everyone that has the kit loves it. I finally got two of them yesterday. I wish some manufacturers would give this comprehensive treatment to aircraft models.

not that I know about...

Maybe you can combine part of one of DML's two tigers with parts from academy's Tiger, then you'll have a nice interior too :-)

Henk, I agree an US halftrack would be a good new release!

Hmmm can't wait to get my hands on this Tiger!

DOH !!!!! I meant to say 'Early Production' !!!! Sorry!
The Early Production first half of 1943 and Ostfront selections are scheduled for later in the year. May/June would be very nice if that holds.
The PMMS site shows it as DML kit # 6269.

What would clinch this for me would be if the Zimmerit was moulded on like their 1/72 tanks. The other "gimmicks" pale into insignificance besides this. I can't believe anyone doesn't start slathering a beautifully moulded kit with filler without some trepidation, & Elephant stuff is ruddy expensive!

While I understand where you're coming from I feel the opposite. If they want to include pre-made sheets of zim (think Atak or Cavalier) that would be nice but please don't mold it on the kit itself. Not even taking into account the fact that your Tiger's zim would look exactly like everyone else's, chipping it and creating battle damage would be extremely hard to do. Doing zim on a kit can be a royal pain, but it can also be very satisfying when done well.

Cheers,
Mike

Recon,
Does that mean that the kit will be released in the US in March or released in HongKong in March?

It's like I'm trying to find out what the meaning of 'is' is ? :-)

And of course , the best news is.....it's March !!! Maybe we will see something in a few weeks.

Thanks, jay
