This is the largest Dio I have done... almost 3 feet x 3 feet! It comprises several scratchbuilt buildings, two vehicles, 20 resin figures, and yes - it weighs in about 40 lbs - a real hernia in the future! It is my primary submission for the Dallas SquadronFest (May 21st), and while the diorama is unfinished (drain pipes, more surrendering german figures, trash in the streets, etc.), I will be traveling all week, and just won't have time to take 'finished' pictures and post them before the show.
Here are five photos, with more available in my gallery, under "surrender".

Keith, now that I have picked up my jaw from the floor...
Wow.. not finished yet? You could have fooled me. It looks spectactular sofar. Only thing that I wondered about is the wall/corner to the left in the last but one photo, those 'seams' are they intentional? And maybe add some (burnt ) wallpaper to the inside to 'brighten it up a touch.
I love that car covered in rubble, it adds a lot to the 'destruction' feel of the ruins.
Good luck at the show.
Cheers

Keith, WOW!!!! This is amazing. Your buildings look stunning, the amounts of rubble and distruction look spot on as well. I am sure this dio will go over well at SquadronFest. I wish i was going to be there in person myself to see it. What figures will you be adding to it? Thank you for sharing it with us. Cheers Kevin

We are not worthy Lord Magee! :-)
Wow and more vwow....oustanding would be an understatement for what you just achieved. Those people attending the Dallas SquadronFest would probably spend most of their time there gawking at your masterpiece.

That is one of the most kicka** dios I have ever seen. Nice to see some British flavor in there. You will be a strong competitor at that show.

I guess its every dio builders dream to do one huge dio and incorporate everything they can do into it. This must go a long way to what I would love to do onr day!
Great composition Keith. The choice of buildings is first class .... they all fit together so naturally. The first two scene-images are absolutely stunning. Looking forward to the rest of the photos and more details. Great work and best of luck at the SquadronFest.

I know its been said many times already, but it fits, WOW! Man, I know it would be as big as a book but you've got to write an article on this one. I know I'm not alone when I say I would love to read it. Good luck at the show.

Look at how big that dio is! It's amazing! For me, it looks like it's finished but if you say that it isn't, then I can't wait for it to be finished!
All I can do is stare until my eyes fall off.
Very very nice.

Keith,
Very very nice, forty pounds of incredible work. The buildings are superb both exteriors and interiors. The placement and animation of the figures adds an exceptional element of motion and drama. Well done, and it is not even completed. Good Luck at SquadronFest. By the way, nice photography.

Still to be done:
- 4 more germans (surrendering)
- MG34 nest
- lots of newspaper strewn about
- telephone wires
- internal house wiring and plumbing
- trim kit for base
- broken panes of glass in street
- chairs in Jagerhoff
- propaganda posters
- street signs
- drain pipes (to hide joints between buildings)
- window frames in the art museum (intact pink building)
- balcony irons in art building
- more "stuff" in the street (bucket, old phone, typewriter, etc)
- seal final joints and weather
As you can see - a lot left to be done in just 4-6 hours of work.... about another pound, I'd say!
(interior of theArt Museum... notice the busts of the composers on the second floor!)
OK - back to the workshop!

Looks great, Keith!
What did the statue start out as? I'm in the process of doing a fountain and have thought about adding a statue to the center.

This is really inspiring. I like it alot bro. I have a passion to do a dio this big. Well anyways what I think makes this dio so interesting is the rareness of this kind... You picked a british subject, even though there arent very many figs out there, you picked a huge diorama, and you picked surrendering germans. Thats really excellent concept. Im still in aw of this dio, can I ask how long it took you?

If you altered those pics to 'black and white' images I'd have trouble telling your model from the real thing. Fantastic mate, just can't tear my eyes away!

WHOA! There is even an interior!
Where did you find those nice tables, busts and furniture?
Are you planning to do a feature of this thing in Armorama?

OMG, words are not enough...
It's fantastic to see a Brit/Commonwealth dio of this magnitude!
I can only assume that the figures are all conversions? What are the 'base' figures you worked from?
Please, please, pretty please... with sugar on top :-) :-) feature please! :-) :-) :-)

A huge and a amazing dio. I didn't see such detail in a diorama yet. It would be wonderful to see a step by step article of this job.

Wow! What a dio! So much action can be seen, so much danger can be felt, so much gunpowder ca be smelt in the air...! So much drama can be lived while loking at these photos! It's wonderful, Very well done, painted and weathered! The figures seem to be very well positioned! The Cromwell tank is the final touch that brings it all alive! Congratulations on a very well done job!
Cheers and happy modeling!

What can I add? When I see work of this quality on this scale I just realise how puny my own efforts are! How long did this take so far? I can only begin to guess the time & effort involved in a project of this size. More details of the scratchbuilt buildings please!

Keith, Fantastic! I’m captivated by the amount of detail in this huge piece. Those judges are going to be awestruck.
Best of luck at the show!
