Perhaps it is my imagination, but are Trumpeter's boxes taking on a DML look to them? The large artwork, lack of the traditional gray Trumpeter lines on the box top, the red colored box sides....

Not even slightly, the quality of their box-art has been considerably 'prettied' up around 6-7 kits ago... Thanks for mentioning that, I knew something was different...Jim

This does look interesting. I haven't gotten any Trumpeter kits, or Soviet for that matter, this might be a good kit to kill two birds with one stone.
I've a question. I don't know anything about length and link tracks. I can't tell from the picture, are those made out of hard plastic or what? It almost looks like sag is built into the long lengths, is that right?

Thanks for sharing Jim!!
Cheers, John.

Generally link and length or indy links are made of the same plastic as the kit I noticed that "sag" as well on the top run Hopefully it will look good on the kit

Its nice to see both style of tracks offered in the box. That is one wild set of decals for the KV I. Interesting choice of markings.

Trumpeter have picked 'Merciless' to model, same as Eastern Express

Luckily the awful poem is in Cyrillic lettering so you won't be able to read it.
Guess the set of Tamiya KVs I have stashed will be staying under the bed permanently.

That's amazing how Trumpeter kits are ALWAYS available in Philippines first. Any idea why? Even Hong Kong always gets them much later.
You lucky Filipinos! :-)

I'm not sure, maybe it's the distance. :-) And the fact that it comes cheap here, 480 Phil Peso, roughly 10 USD.

Looking forward to both of these and I am hoping that there is a KV-85 down the road also.
For some reason when I did 1/285 scale miniature wargaming I always had KV-85s and I like the tank.

- Rob, that is a coincidence. I always liked them in that scale as well. Not that they gave you any advantage (apart from the armor) as they were always so damned slow...
Curiously enough, even though I have just built two Tamiya KVs with Mig Conversion sets, I still haven't lost the illusion for the KV. A Kv85 conversion set will probably be on the drawing board as we speak...
Here are a couple of reasons why KVs are so attractive..Jim
