Hi all!
My SWMBO is not a fan of AM because I spend too much money on them in my LHS . She thinks I have AMS ! IMO she's right since I buy every new PE set ASAP. But since I want to win this month's MOM I just can't build an AFV OOB ! I don't know if this is the right DG , if not just PM me! THX
If you were able to read this, you are an Armorama veteran! If not, you are probably a rookie!
The first time I was here I didn't understood half the messages because of "strange words" I couldn't find in a dictionnary: SWMBO, ASAP, IMO, AM, PE, DG, OOB etc...
I don't think there is an Armorama dictionnary for those words, why couldn't we make one?
The rules are simple: I'll edit the list below each time someone comes with a new one! After a while I think we will have hundreds of them and if someone new asks for some explanation, he could be pointed in the right direction.

ROFL
Good one Jean-Luc.
Yesterday a romantic story by Easyoff. Today a short story by JL. Perhaps we should have an AOTM (Author of the month) or a SOTM (Story of the month) I better stop here, this is begining to sound like a music award. :-)

Great post!
Thankfully my time spent on other forums has given me an insight into most abbreviations.
I’m also young enough to have got in to text speak (what it’s called over here) and old enough for it not to have tarnished my written skills for good. I still have lads, well gents, in the office going “what does lmao mean again” and “LOL – I think ‘he’ loves me! NO!!!”
Took me a while to work out LHS

AMS = After Market Syndrome
Actually AMS is Advanced Modeler Syndrome. You can suffer AMS even if you don't use after market parts. Scratchbuilders usually are vicitims of AMS.
Oh, and one more to your list:
HTH = Hope that helped

Scott,
I've always wondered what the "YMMV" in your signature meant... thanks to Engin's link I found out.... and let me just say, it really is a philosophy more of us need to folow...

Hi all!
Thanks for your replies and links (Engin ), as Robin pointed out, this was made before, so we can consider this to be some kind of an "update" of the previous list...
I edited the "dictionnary" until that post but we can find more I think!
Jean-Luc
P.S Err... Rudi.. no I wasn't kidding, I didn't knew what the F meant in AFV... but you know I'm French. That's a good excuse!

Here is one that only applies to people in Asia.
KNNBCCB
I fear to elaborate on it but people in the army there will know this one straight away. :-) In short, its not a form of polite greeting and often used for "highlighting" a point.

Isn't "The Brick-and-Mortar" (Spelling?) also another name for the LHS? (Which really isn't all that local, by the way.... ) Thanks for your time.

Two different things:Isn't "The Brick-and-Mortar" (Spelling?) also another name for the LHS?
Brick and Mortar refers to an actual store as opposed to an online store (no real walk in store front, just internet sales).
LHS or local hobby shop is the nearby (to you) store you frequent. It will aways be a "brick and mortar" store.

PUFO
An old RAF term used by observers in open cockpit aircraft before proper intercoms were installed. At the end of the mission he would pass a note to the pilot with this written on it.

Well that does it SWAMBO must be right and I do have AMS even thought I build mostly OOB and stear clear of most AM. Can't seem to pass the LHS by without taking a peek inside...
and to top it all off I knew what every one of those "strange words" meant..
it also was a help that I was on the computers in the early days and was able to learn most of the common words and smilies as they were being developed and catching on with the mainstream public... (smilies started out as a way for early computer programers to sign their work, I.E. their programming code.... (this was before any type of windows software) .
and to show yall how old I am i'll tell ya when that was..
1986 on a thing called Compuserve... with a Commodore 64 Computer with a whopping 64k of memory, and a 300 baud... (thats right 300 baud) compare to 56k which is dialup right now means 56,000).....
it would take an hour to play the text version of Star Trek agaist someone.. LOL ..
and when the World Wide Web opened up I was right there at the head of the line.. Techno Weenie that I am..
