For anyone who builds Armored Cars, one of the most attractive subjects is the British Saladin. Now, Accurate Armour have released two versions in 1/35th Scale of the vehicle - undoubtedly one of the most attractive of Post-War British subjects.
Two versions have been announced, K131i with FULL interior detail and K131 without.

The New releases are:

K131 - SALADIN Armoured Car (£75.00 / £90.00 Export/U.K.& E.C.)

This 1/35th scale Resin kit by Jon Bottomley depicts the standard Mk-2 production version. Researched over a 2-year period and following the full expert restoration of a real vehicle, this model features full suspension, accurate tyres with subtle bulging, opening hatches, full external stowage, and all the subtle welding details accurately depicted.

An extensive etched brass detail set including rear mesh grill, optional gun barrels, coloured transparent light castings (with early/late variations) and full colour decals are also included.

K131i SALADIN Armoured Car with Interior (£100.00 / £120.00 Export/U.K.& E.C.)

This kit also includes a full interior for the Fighting compartment, with drivers position and extensive ammunition stowage. The engine bay is fully detailed with panels and a B80 engine accessed through the six opening and interlocking deck hatches. The turret and turret turntable are fully detailed with gun mounting and controls, optical instruments, seating and extensive ammunition stowage and some spent cases. For ease of assembly most of the interior can be painted before final fitting.

An extensive etched brass detail set including rear mesh grill, optional gun barrels, coloured transparent light castings (with early/late variations), and full colour decals are also included.

Our thanks to Accurate Armour for the Update!

I'm with you Doug. I like my AFvs buttoned up so an interior is a waste for me. Well done Accurate Armour.

excellent looking kit. Kudo's to AA for there attention to detail. But for me it would be a waste as I prefer my kits buttoned up as well. Just looked on AA website and noticed it is offered with and without interior. will have to pick one up as soon as the holidays are over....

I wonder if these are the old Dartmoore model patterns? Great kit, I have a few of them in my stash. Mrosko

No, the Dartmoor masters were picked up by Firing Line.

No, the Dartmoor masters were picked up by Firing Line. [/quote] Which they upgraded too! Indeed Firing Line has a great looking kit, cheaper than the AA "no interior" version. Firing Line has excellent mail order service, like Accurate Armour. It's good to have the choice. Cheers, Christophe

Derek Hanson (Accurate Armour) mailed my Saladin (with interior) and a few other items on the 30th of November (date my credit card was charged) but sadly due to the Christmas rush and miserable mail service BOTH sides of the pond, it must be stuck in Santa's Sleigh. Nothing in my mailbox yet but I am hopeful it will show up soon as I really am looking forward to getting to grips with it. Having been a driver, gunner/op. and commander of one it remains as my favourite vehicle... Yeah yeah I know, I also need to finish my Jackal and Ferret Mk.5, blame AA for making too many great items... Keith.

It's a real shame that the Armorama moderators have allowed a few spoil sports to chase our friend "Keef1648" off the boards here. I know that he was getting ready to do a full-up build blog on the AA Saladin with the interior. He served on these during his time in the British Army and would have presented a wealth of information in his usual in-depth, and carefully documented build-blog style. Sadly, Armorama fans here will not enjoy the benefit of watching this kit being built by a very talented modeler who's always been very generous sharing his time and knowledge here. All of us here on Armorama are diminished by his absence and many of us wish the moderators would have stood up for him while some others here were being abusive, tactless and disrespectful to him. I'm very sorry to have had to witness what was done, and even sorrier that none of us here will have our friend "Keef1648" around anymore on Armorama. Hopefully the moderators will see the injustice of what transpired and take action to try to set things right by "Keef1648" and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
