There is something small coming from Tamiya, and by small I mean a small staff car.
It seems Tamiya is releasing a small German staff car. The Simca 5 was a small Franco-Italian car designed by Fiat. The Tamiya offering is said to have 3 different markings and come with a driver figure. There are no details on release date, but with box art and test shots, it should be not be too long.

Here's a way I think to tell a Simca 5 from a Fiat 500 : On the Simca 5, the trafficator-type turn signals are flush-mounted in front of the doors (this one is at the Saumur Museum) : On the Topolino, they are fitted to the windshield pillars : ..or flush-mounted behind the doors : Mauro, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong Frenchy

It's amazing what makes us happy. I'm in the same boat as all of you. I'm getting this one ASAP! What a great little vehicle. It's versatile and was used by so many different armies. Way to go Tamiya. Now,seeing as that you are about the only manufacturer of WWII French vehicles... how about the well known...but little produced...French Gnome-Rhone motorcycle and side car?! HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM???? Baby Steps..... Jeff

Tamiya strikes again Something fun and fresh that will no doubt be a joy to build Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned yet, but there is a serious advantage to the size: it will work great as 'dressing' on an AFV dio or vignette without taking up much room I'll be building a couple for sure, especially with all the possibilities for pre war right through to postwar use

Tamiya might come out with a french civilian version... the box says german army

Decals for this version are already included Frenchy

Yes Frenchy you're right However the version with the flush mounted behind the doors was the most common. Actually the other one was quite rare. I suspect that Tamiya has used the Peugeot nomenclature to avoid some misunderstanding...they still have a pair of "Fiat 500" models in their catalogue LINK LINK Morover diorama set in France during the WW2 are probably more common than those set in Italy. They've already made a stunning Citroen Traction avant

I was really glad to see this release. Over the years I have seen loads of photos of these machines all over many fronts and used by a wide variety of units on both sides. Always thought it'd be a really cool addition to any diorama. Way to go with this one Tamiya! Jim Large Scale Armory
