A new release is on the way from AFV Club in the way of the M24 in JGSDF use.
AFV Club has announced the upcoming release of the JGSDF M24 light tank. This looks to be the third upcoming release of the M24 Chaffee from AFV Club, as there has been previous announcements recently of another American and a French Indo-China version coming as well.

I thought the 'basic' Chaffee kit had a Japanese version included; and they already released an Indo-China version as well? Was that just a different vehicle, or manufacturer? EDIT: I looked around, it was Bronco who did that. Will at least be interesting to see how the kits compare.

You may be thinking of Bronco Models offerings.

Great to see all these coming from AFV Club now. An "apples to apples" comparison is already possible to do. The AFV Club Korean War version has been out for months and the plastic can be compared to any of the Bronco offerings (I realize that the tracks were different on the later versions). My personal preference is AFV Club. Broncos Chaffees are superb, but slightly over-engineered (especially the 7 part engine deck). AFV Club has taken a slightly simpler approach without sacrificing detail. I prefer the single link tracks in the Bronco kits, though.

Thanks for the info! I have the Bronco "Asian Forces" kit but I will get the AFV Club JGSDF release (I'm a big JGSDF fan) and probably the French one as well. It's great to see AFV Club including figures in their kit "à la Tamiya" I hope they will continue this for future releases. Cheers, Christophe

Ever since the Norwegian NATO version, I've heard bits and pieces of AFV Club's version versus the Bronco offering. We truly live in an age of plenty. I've not gotten either -- I think I may need to bite on the AFV Club M24 after all.
