Master Box snags a scene from "Band of Brothers" for an upcoming figures release. They call it "101th light company. US Paratroopers and British Tankman, France, 1944."
Those who know the HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers" will instantly recognize the inspiration for Master Box's new "diorama in a box" called "101th light company. US Paratroopers and British Tankman, France, 1944." When the Screaming Eagles briefly liberate Eindhoven during Operation Market Garden, they enter the town on British Sherman tanks. The Dutch residents use the occasion to punish the women who have been "fraternizing with the enemy." Suspected female collaborators had their hair cut off and swastikas marked on them, even those who had children with the occupiers. It's a very realistic scene from one of the companies leading the pack in styrene figure releases.

The set looks awesome. MB goofed though, this scene is from Holland and not France.

Well there seems to be a few issues - The BAR gunner is missing the pouches on the left side, helmets are missing the netting and chinstraps, the M43 jackets portraited here look more like shirt, in reality they should have more "volume" and "mass" to them. Also if they are to portrait Airborne, I would prefer the specialised footwear, not the M43 boots. I know this sound a bit too harsh, but I just had to point this out since Im a reenactor and so I do pay more attention to these things.

Paratroopers again... US did not have regular infantry?

Probably more useful as regular infantry in late Spring '45. You could even mix them up with Dragon's tank riders.

Just curious: How were these troops refitted after their landings? With their branch own, i guess rather expensive and exclusive gear, or with "normal" infantry equipment, which was, i presume, more available? If the last was the case, one could mix with gear from the Dragon sets, or not?

I like that, those are some great poses.

They were refitted only when in rear areas. But then You have to remember that they were not in action for that long. The equipment is preaty durable to last for months of heavy usage.

Ok.. I can't wait for these to come out... I guess these could be adapted to be sat in the bed of a half track, right?

Yeah that scene was from Holland in September 1944 outside Eindhoven. The bald woman was a nazi collaborator who had been punished by her Dutch countrymen upon the liberation of the city. Great figure poses but sadly completely unusable to me as the inaccuracies in uniform are just too big. Most of the US airborne troops still used the M42 jackets in that period and the majority had netting on their helmets. They also wore corcoran jump boots. What a waste of a good set of figures MasterBox you can't even depict accurate infantry as the figures are wearing (ironically very well depicted) jump trousers.
