It's been almost 6 weeks since Concord Publishing announced a new release, however, if the images are anything to go by, it was worth waiting for...
There are no shortage of reference books on uniforms, however there can NEVER be enough books using contemporary photos with detailed captions. This new book from Concord covers a very significant are for both the figure and diorama modeller:
6513 SOLDAT (2) The German Soldier on the Eastern Front 1943-1944 (ISBN 962-361-104-8
is a 52 page, soft-cover book which contains 135 photos and 4 Color Plates. The book is written by Gordon Rottman and the color plates are by Stephen Andrew. The book is the second part in a series which covers German Infantry in the late-war period (1943/44) - a period which was very significant in the evolution of German Equipment and Uniforms. One of the aspects covered in the book, which is frequently forgotten, is the use of camouflage clothing by Wermacht troops - many books specialize in SS Camouflage Uniforms. The book covers the Wermacht - an area which although it ISN'T ignored, is certainly in the minority compared to the number of books on the SS. More images from the book can be seen at the side:
