Accurate Armour has been busy tinkering with the Centurion and has sent Armorama news of three new products in the line-up covering one of Great Britain’s biggest military export successes, the Centurion.
The three new Centurion based products are all Armoured Recover Vehicles. The following text is as made available by Accurate Armour.
C103 - Centurion ARV Mk-2 (Long hull)
The Centurion ARV Mk-2 was the standard British Armoured Recovery Vehicle (ARV) from 1956 onwards and some served during the Gulf War of 1990/91 with the final vehicle leaving service in 1995. Its flexibility, reliability, power and comprehensive recovery equipment made it one of the best ARV's of its era. Most of these ARV's were converted from gun tanks resulting in two distinct versions; with 'long' hull (Based on Centurion Mk-1/2) or 'short' hull (based on Centurion Mk-3/5). The majority of the 300+ produced were short hull vehicles.

This very comprehensive 1/35th scale resin conversion set by Derek Hansen and Rob Tearle converts 1/35th scale AFV Club Centurion tank kits* to depict one of the 57 'long hull' ARV's Mk-2 with distinctive ribbed transmission deck covers. As far as we know at present all long hull ARV's seem to be British REME service only. This conversion set features full recovery equipment, cables, rear anchor spade, spade frame jib and all standard stowage, bumper bar, snatch blocks and gun planks. Commanders 0.30 Browning MG is also included.

*Note: Any of the AFV Club Centurion kits (Meteor engine versions only) serves as a suitable donor for this product, images show this conversion fitted to a typical AFV Club kit (not included).

C104 - Centurion ARV Mk-2 (Short hull)
This very comprehensive 1/35th scale resin conversion set by Derek Hansen and Rob Tearle converts 1/35th scale AFV Club Centurion tank kits* to depict one of the standard 'short' hull ARV's Mk-2. This basic version was also supplied to all countries around the world who used Centurion gun tanks (sometimes in modified form). This conversion set features full recovery equipment, cables, rear anchor spade, spade frame jib and all standard stowage, bumper bar, snatch blocks and gun planks. Commanders 0.30 Browning MG is also included.

C105 - Australian SVN Centurion ARV Mk-2
Standard British produced Centurion ARV Mk-2 vehicles were modified by the Australian Army (RAEME) for use in South Vietnam from 1968 to 1971. The basic ARV's had track guards re-worked, fittings removed and protection added to allow the vehicles to operate in dense jungle. Extensive crew protection armour was added to the hull rear, and ACAV armour shields and additional weapons fitted for the commander and operator, hence the Australian Army South Vietnam (AASVN) designation.

We would like to acknowledge the assistance of Paul Handel and the Royal Australian Armoured Corps Memorial and Army Tank Museum in the development of this project.

This very comprehensive 1/35th scale resin conversion set by Derek Hansen and Rob Tearle converts 1/35th scale AFV Club Centurion tank kits* to depict one of the AASVN modified 'short' hull ARV's Mk-2, and features full recovery equipment, cables, rear anchor spade, spade frame jib and all standard stowage, bumper bar, snatch blocks and gun planks. All the AASVN modifications outlined above are also provided along with comprehensive ammunition and jerry can stowage.

Was just looking at all my cheap shopping joints, unfortunately the donor kits are few and far between. The IDF versions are still out there, but still pricey as they are relatively new. If I was to go ahead, would have to wait until the Mk.5/6 kit became available again.
