With the release of the Chieftain tanks from Takom getting closer Accurate Armour are also gearing up for their release. Accurate Armour has released a series of images showing a Leyland L60 engine and David Brown TN12 transmission for Chieftain MBT.
Takom’s Chieftains have caught the attention of many modellers and that has not been missed by Accurate Armour. The images of the Leyland L60 engine and David Brown TN12 transmission for Chieftain MBT that they have released are a work in progress, but they already look very good before the bling is offered. I can see a rosy outlook for Accurate Armour with this product.

Great to see this! Hopefully the Takom engine deck will not be molded shut, in which case perhaps AA can expand this offering to include a set with complete engine compartment :-)

As you can see when you visit AA's site, the 'pack is sitting inside the load bed area of a 'Trojan' FV434 REME Fitters Vehicle, kit number K050. I am certain that not knowing what the TAKOM Chieftain decks will look like (are they individual or one piece?) and where do they stand in comparison size to the Tamiya hull, AA was smart to sort and get this pack out to market quickly. No doubt some cutting and scratch building by the purchasers of the Chieftain's will allow the pack to be installed. Of course a second run by AA including internal hull needs and decks plus pack could follow when Derek Hansen (AA.) and his crew can measure up the new kits. Keith.

My point exactly, Keith. Yupp, I saw the engine pack in the FV434's load bed area on the pics here and on AA's site. I realize that neither AA or anyone else has any chance to measure up an engine bay for the Takom kit yet. That's why I wrote "hopefully the Takom engine deck will not be molded shut" as it would open up some interesting possibilities. Considering the Chieftains engine often had to be replaced, it would make for some interesting scenes, especially together with an FV434 or AA's ARRV Mk.7 (kit C068) for example. :-)
