Ask any modeller of WWII Allied subjects for a list of five subjects they'd like to see kitted-out in plastic and it's a reasonable certainty that one of them would be the Humber Mark 1 Scout Car Now, from the Czech Republic, the first of this year's Humbers in 1/35th...
Up until this week, SKP Model was a total unknown to me. The company has, in its catalogue a series of VERY interesting decal sets in 1/35th and 1/48th scale - now, just where else are you going to get decals for the Czech Independent Armored Brigade?. They also have a couple of good looking British infantrymen in 1/35th scale. However, this week, they announced their first Injection-Moulded (plastic) COMPLETE kit in 1/35th scale - a subject which could not be more welcome:

SKP 011 - Humber Mk.I Scout Car

Now, apart from the photos of the sprues and the decal set, not much is known about the kit (which is going to retail on-line at around €20). Hopefully, on my trip to the Nuremberg Show, i'll be able to get some more details...

Meanwhile, as a 'curtain raiser', I've posted the available images of this interesting release...

Jim, thanks very much for these pics. "Ask any modeller of WWII Allied subjects for a list of five subjects they'd like to see kitted-out in plastic and it's a reasonable certainty that one of them would be the Humber Mark 1 Armoured Car. Now, from the Czech Republic, the first of this year's Humbers in 1/35th..." Did you mean Humber Scout Car or were you referring to the new Humber MkI Armoured Car by Sovereign? I wish someone would do Humber Armoured Cars in plastic - maybe they will if these sell well! Regards, Roger

Good for SKP for doing something different. I'm really impressed by some of the great marketing being done by the Eastern European companies. Rather than doing the same old same old they are actually doing some out of the box thinking. Here's hoping this is just the tip of the ice berg of what they can come up with.

This certainly looks like it will fill a gap along with other releases in the Allied range of vehicles. They are also producing a really nice looking pair of figures, which will compliment many British vehicles, including a relaxed Squaddie and an officer in tin helmet with his binoculars. Even I am going to be tempted away from German equipment for some affordable light recce vehicles. John

Excellent! The Humber was used by the RAF Regiment, amongst other units, so there's plenty of scope to build an armoured vehicle with an RAF roundel. Also plenty of scope for different camouflage colours and patterns. Even better, going by the photos it looks to be accurate.

I'm not sure that the RAF Regiment ever used the Humber Scout Car ... Humber Light Recce Car, definitely. Check out "my selected link".
