Listed as a June release, Hobby Boss provides further information and photos on the kit contents.
The ASU-57 was a light anti-tank vehicle that may be air-dropped together with troops during airborne operations. Lightly armored, the vehicle mounted a 57mm gun and powered by the engine used on the GAZ-M-20. Built by Mytishchi Machine-building Factory (MMZ), it is estimated that around 500 units were produced until 1962.

Russian ASU-57 Airborne Tank Destroyer (83896) contains more than 300 parts. It features individual track links and photo-etched details. Also included is a decal sheet to finish the vehicle in either Soviet or Egyptian service. The built model measures 135.8mm long and 65.3mm wide.

Background information on the vehicle sourced from Tanks-Encyclopedia and Wikipedia.

Hmmm...I guess I should bin the old Aer kit then? Only cost me $3, but the aftermarket, much much more...

Yeah...I have the AER kit too. I have the Eduard PE, RB return rollers and barrel for it as well. Don't see a whole lot of difference in the kit except the plastics thickness. Even that's not too bad.I can live with that.

Egads, I had the AER effort but ended up binning it after adding what I could to the spares box. I might look at this but it'll depend on the price.

I thought the Egyptian vehicle was a myth? There are just colour profiles in a few books but no hard evidence or photograph? Cheers, Christophe

Shouldn't that Egyptian one have a black "number plate" on rear of it's hull, assuming it actually existed?
