Recently, courtesy of Trumpeter's U.S. importer, we published the news of the release of an Sd. Kfz 7 in 1/35th scale. Now, taking the story a little further, some images of this long-awaited kit.
The photos in this report are of the TEST-BUILD of Trumpter's FUTURE release:

1514 - German Sdkfz.7 8-Ton Halftrack, (Early Version)

This won't be the final (production version of the kit, but it should serve as a good indicator as to what to expect.

Our thanks to Stevens International for these (advance) images.

This looks orgasmic. Did you see the jackstand in one of the cabinets? Wow, my SdKfz 18 has a wonderful companion in the works, to go along with the high speed tractor my Long Tom waited so long for. Glad I built both in transport mode!!!!!!!!!

I agree...looks like some sort of Curate's egg out of China...good in place(certainly a step ahead of the old Tamiya kit) but not so good in others; many sink and ejector pin marks ,very noticeable on the track links for instance, the inner faces of the roadwheels aren't defined and the dashboard is sorta devoid of any "serious" detail.Me..I'm not THAT enthused and I won't buy the Trump offering....would rather wait for its Dragon counterpart that will follow no doubt but hey...it's me !

How many times did I actually point out that it's a series of Test-Shots? Oh yeah! It was worth waiting for the DML Stryker as well Some raving, moronic blogger going against Trumpeter on the DML 'Fan-Site' DOESN'T mean that DML will ever do the 8-Tonner. So, you may have a long wait....

Trump looks excellent but maybe DML will offer some extras like shoelaces for driver figure or clean pair of socks to go with their forth..forthcoming 8-tonner. Duh, I'm already writing like DML is going to release it! Niko

As I said before, in another thread, it'd be great if DML did the LATE version of the Sd.Kfz 7 - it wouldn't take away from Trump's release at all - rather the two would complement each other. I'm just glad that that the photos we've published have created such a furore...

Yes, agree on that 100%. Wouldn't it be wise policy in general do a different version? At least, it certainly would benefit modellers Niko

Even though DML have announced a new SdKfz 7 I just preordered my Trumpeter kit from HLJ. They say it should be available by May. I am also curious to see which version DML produces. Jeff

Well this is a big surprise from Trumpeter to say the least. If this set of test shots develops into a kit then this one will rival DML. And look, they even did individual track links instead of rubberbands. Seems like they are listening to the customer now unlike DML with their DS rubberbands. Maybe I won't wait for the DML kit now though a late model armored cab would be nice addition to this kit. Oh wait, Trumpeter already has a good start on that already. And remember, real modelers fill sinkmarks.

Looks really promising. Could be a very nice entry for the upcoming Half track campaign. READ MORE ABOUT THE HALF TRACK CAMPAIGN HERE
