Masterbox Ltd. have just given this Network another glimpse into their W.I.P.s which is connected with news of an interesting (future) range of figure sets from the company.
Masterbox have been the absolute pioneers in the idea of bringing the idea of a 'Vignette-in-a-Box' to fruition. Most companies, it has to be said, see figures as an 'adjunct' to armor models and design their figure ranges accordingly. However, Masterbox, have put forward a radical proposition - why not use figures WITHOUT the requirement for vehicles?
Certainly, many of the company's figure sets are designed specifically for using with AFVs but there have been several which weren't.
This brings me onto the new range that the company have chosen to announce here, which at the moment is in the 'Test-Bed' stage. It's something which has been ignored by the manufacturers (including the resin ones) for years.
The new range of figure sets is being titled 'Women at War' and the company intends to cover more than the usual (token) 'Soviet Woman Soldier' which several companies already do. As the title suggests, it's going to cover a variety of nationalities and, due to the participation of woman in WWII, they shouldn't be finding a lack of ideas anytime soon!
The images show the W.I.P. of a future vignette set, which, at the moment look as if they're inspired from the images of the V.E. Day celebrations in Times Square.. Obviously, as they're W.I.P.s, they'll doubtless change with more figures being added...
Once again, out thanks to Alexander of Masterbox Ltd. for again giving us a glimpse inside Design Central!
