Sam Publications are to launch a new magazine aimed at Military Modelers.
Scale Military Modeller International magazine promises the armor enthusiast a new and fresh approach to the world of scale fighting vehicle and figure modelling.

The magazine also promises a complete package of previews, news, reviews and model builds on a scale hitherto ignored by other titles.

To quote from SAM publications press release: Each issue will be front-loaded with information on products, essential to the modeller, followed by feature-packed sections to both inspire and inform, written in a ‘user-friendly’ style and squarely aimed at not only the experienced hobbyist, but also the novice and intermediate modeller, who may feel sidelined by the more elitist content of other available publications.

Very laudable aims but will it be different enough from other magazines to stand out?

It is a brave move on the part of SAM publications into a crowded market but hopefully they will find their target audience. The first issue will be available on July 24th and we'll be watching it's development with interest.

Very Nice. I have seen the sister publication on shelves in michigan hobby shops, but not the armor version. I look forward to it.

Super cool new book!

I tried ordering the first issue. Just to check whether it is worth a full subscription. However, I also found their special books on the ME 109 and bought both of them. BTW: nowhere during the ordering process could I give a comment and let them know that I only know their products due to Armorama. Bad - since I want to support our site.

As i'm in the U.K. at the moment, i've already taken steps to get hold of a copy. I have to say that i'm INCREDIBLY excited at this - as a former subscriber to their Aviation Magazine (SAM) i'm damned sure they'll do as professional a job with this...

Silly question, but are these genuinely from the first issue, or are they from the customary dummy issue that publishers prepare to try out the design? I ask because some of the publicity material that fell out of my most recent copy of SAMI was definitely dummies - treating old kits as new releases, not matching headlines to subjects, that sort of thing. Also because I'm slightly depressed that the sample page is yet another Tiger and I am (pause to retrieve tin hat) just ever so slightly bored of Tigers.

Well, I picked up a copy of the magazine today (prior to doing a full Review on it) and the reality is, there's a LOT more than Tigers in this issue. It IS in fact an actual page from the magazine - NOT a dummy...

Looking forward to your review since I won't be receiving my copy until sometime next week.
