MK35 Editions have announced a new diorama accessory in 1/35 scale, a dead cow.

Something that is often mentioned in memoirs from the Normandy battles is the amount of dead and swollen cattle that littered the battlefield.

Now Mk35 have brought us F188 DEAD COW Normandy 1944 or France 1940 in 1/35 scale.


Although Mk35 label this as suitable for 1940 or 44 I'm sure it is usable for many other periods.

Terrible paint job on the box art though - like it's a Bf-109 or something. Black-and-white cows have rather 'hard edge' spots on them, none of this fancy feathered airbrush stuff. And the white is usually smudged, especially on the belly, whence the cartoonish look of this one. They do not live in operating rooms but on fields... But hey, don't have a cow man...

After seeing some of the comments on this cow, I couldn't resist posting this picture from the German Federal Archives. It almost looks like someone borrowed this cow in the picture for the mold.

Eric I think your thinking about German cows, these are French but if Dragon release the beefier 'German Mad Cow' version then yes, yes we will obviously have to wait until Cavalier release their after market product.

My cat looks like that when she wants her belly rubbed. Back to the cow though, I'll be getting one, I want one for a diorama that is about to be butchered so will have to see if it looks a bit too bloated for a fresh kill ( though I'm sure a little modification would fix that ). Haven't you aussies heard of washing them ? Kiwi farmers know how to look after their women.

So these are WW2 cattle| do they also make them in post WW2 erra for modern dios? haha I jest I jest, these look great, cant say that I have seen them in a DIO yet but would make an interesting addition, very natural looking. right bit of weathering it would look the part
