Once again, we're able to present another Work-in-progress from Masterbox Ltd.. This time, a set of figures which are sorely lacking in the current catalogues.
The latest W.I.P. from Masterbox takes a slightly different direction - AFV Crew from the D.A.K. (Deutsches Afrika Korp). Now, curiously enough, they haven't, despite the number of suitable vehicles released, been a tremendously high-priority for manufacturers.

Now though, this is all set to change. This set (which may well change before it enters production) features three AFV Crewmen along with a local Bedouin (?) tribesman - who is mounted on horseback.

Once again, this is being faithful to the company's philosophy of producing 'Vignettes-in-a-Box' - a trend which has helped to build Masterbox's reputation as being one of the most innovative manufacturers on the market.

However, the story doesn't end with this set. Parallel sets are already in the planning stage which will include more D.A.K as well as British figures for the Western desert - reflecting many of the developments which are taking place in the 1/35th scale AFV market.

As always, our gratitude to Alexander of Masterbox Ltd. for the images!

Glad to see it, you hit the nail on the head: lots of DAK-suitable vehicles, but few good figure sets in comparison. I have the two from Tristar and they're not bad, but DML's are either old or too specific to infantry.

Hats off, once again, to masterbox for sending out these WIP projects. They are intriguing looks at the process of making a kit or figure set and I'm sure by releasing these details they get useful feedback. I think this set looks really well animated and all look very natural in their poses. another good point is the accurate, 1940's haircut on the guy crouching down. More than once I've seen figures of WW2 European Soldiers with crew cuts or some other later style. Short back and sides is the way to go, if you look at old photos! Well done masterbox, look forward to future developments paul

Great little set. You can almost feel how "HOT" the Figure kneeling, with the propper hair cut is. Very nice change to your normal AFV crew, manning all the hatches. Was it true alot of the Arabs suported the Germans " with open arms/pockets, when the DAK arived in North Africa? Great looking, thanks MB, Geraint
