MIG productions have announced a new metallic pigment set as well as two interesting What If/Sci Fi kits in the form of Walking Tanks.

Although these are science fiction there is such an interest in What if/Post 1945 scenarios that I'm posting them in Armor News rather than SciFi.
F 35651 KV-2X Heavy Walking Tank, Complete Kit

This is the first in a series of new vehicles based on a fictional parallel world developed after the Second World War. This is a complete resin model kit with moveable legs allowing the modeller to adapt it to any terrain. Our kit is based on the old KV-II turret used by the Russians in 1941 but with an improved roof containing updated technology that might have been seen during the 50s.

This walking chassis is intended be combined with the Tamiya or Trumpeter KV-II kits. You can also adapt it to different turrets to fit your own ideas.

An extensive collection of high quality metallic pigments. This set contains four colours for making authentic metallic effects on your models. Like Scott said perfect for the "What -If" Campaign. Mat - you are a rivet counter Man! Embrace it! Not only would they move in only one direction, without a vent path they would only move until the operating piston hydraulically locked. Partial stroke! Unless of course in the midst of this horrific future war, technology actually advanced and the vent path is internal- or the hydraulic cylinder is acting against a coil spring? Adam is a talent and this is cool! I love armor- but I definitely can appreciate this too. I'll be interested to see the price. (FYI found it on MIG site, 69 EUROs with turret, 56 EUROs without) Steve

I...I smell...RIVET COUNTERS AMONG US! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES lest you be infected and forget this is a...HOBBY. And it's supposed to be...FUN I'm going back to my work bench now and make tank sounds.

a rivet counter, me? oh my god, what will I turn into. Maybe soon I'll start making little kids cry on model shows by telling them that they did not paint their first model of a tank in the exact shade of green. Maybe I'll better hide in my cave with my precious stash of kits till some Hobbit comes to take them away well, at least they solved the problem with the impossible to build indy link tracks you get on most models these days and for some reason I imagine this kit with a pair of big resin Mickey Mouse ears on the turret

Glad most of you guys like it. Interesting info regarding the hydro lines. Will have to keep that in mind for the next one. Any links to good info regarding how hydraulics work? I just assumed one line fed and sucked-back the fluid. Here's a link to the in-progs of this release and the one I painted last year before Mig Productions took over production of it. Because they are phase-shifted hydraulic lines vulnerable only in fluidic space. You'd need a quantum time/space fusion device to disable them. And you'd have to be able to open a wormhole to get there. So , seriously, the hydraulic lines are safe,

Its clearly a co-axial hydraulic line, a tube within a tube. Problem solved as far as I'm concerned for a subject that never existed in real life.

well, I don't have a link for you but the principle is very easy.If you pressurize oil with a hydraulic pump, the pump will send it through the line inside the cilinder. Because the oil is under pressure it will push the piston out whilst filling the cilnder with oil. So how to get the psiton down? Well, if you have a car jack it is no problem. You release the pressure from the hydraulic line and the weight of the car will force the oil out of the cilinder. But if there is no weight on the cilinder, nothing will happen when you release the pressure. So that is why you need a second hydraulic line that puts oil in the cilinder on the opposite side of the piston. Sucking the oil out through the same line might work in theory, but the cylinder will not be very powerfull (only when you create a perfect vacuum in the line the airpressure outside applies the maximum force on the piston head when air can enter the cylinder from the opposite side, but this might go a bit far for this topic ) you can have a look at wikipedia here LINK and check the parts "plunger cilinder" and "diffirential cilinder". So basic rule is: 1 hydraulic line, the cilnder work on itself only one way, 2 hydraulic lines, the cylinder can push and pull.
