Great job larry. I love the camo you produced. Was it an easy build? Good kit worth buying? Congrats on the build. It looks awesome!

I just came across the thread, what is the deadline and I have a type 79 KO-GATA that I would like to add to the campaign if there is still time.

Hey Robert, deadline is June 2 and you can sign up in the campaigns tab. You are more than welcome to jump in! Another Japanese vehicle would be a great addition.

How's everyone else going? We have around a month left so lets kick it in the butt!

Well here is my contribution to the Campaign. It is Fine Molds Type III Ho-ni Finished to represent one stationed on the Main land in the final days of the war. The Kit went together well and was finished with Gunze sangyo paints. The kit supplied barrel was replaced with a after one from Fine Molds. Thanks and I look forward to comments.

Larry great Ho Ni, I love the paint job. What Tamiya equivalent would the green be, I am trying to come up with the correct army green that Humbrol has but i like acrylics.

Welcome onboard! Very interesting build - I am looking forward to see how this kit comes together. I cannot see the tracks in the picture. Is it rubber bands or individual links?

Looking forward to see more

HelloJesper :

The tracks are rubber band. I started the build yesterday and I do not think I will try another RPM kit for a while, it has been an exaperating experiance so far. I will take pictures today and see if I can get them posted on the first try.

Jesper do you are anyone you know have any reference on this tank (TYPE 49 KO-GATA) I am using the kits instructions (which I will post photos of) they mention several markings from China, Manchuria, Manchuko. The one color "Army Green" that is mentioned I am not familar with.

Hello,

Here is my entry “USMC near Hill 382” to the "Pacific War in the East" Campaign. The vignette depicts the 4th Marine Division fight on Iwo Jima, 1945.

The vignette is in 1/35 Scale and contains: (Tamiya) Japan Type1 ‘Ho-Ni’ 75mm SPG, (DML) U.S. Marines Iwo Jima, 1945 and USMC Tarawa 1943.

Cheers,
Christer

Hello Christer,

Your diorama looks very nice. I like the groundwork, layout and use of the figures. You've done a good job on the cut-away, it doesn't look to fake or too abrupt.

Best luck,
Chas

Looks great, Christer. Excellent scene with great action and layout of the "story".
You just could not resist cutting of the rear end of the tank destroyer

Robert, I have just checked my references and found no pictures of the FT-17 / Ko-gata in Japanese service. However, the Japanese Ko-gata should look like the FT-17, so you can use pictures of this as inspiration.

Great Iwo build. That is an amazing piece of work you got there. Robert that is an interesting kit to say the least. Tank built and rendered obsolete instantaniously. It is great to see everything come alive again. I am sorry if I am scarce the next few days; it's finals week!!!!

If I pass everything I will surely treat myself to a few then get back to modeling! Great seeing the progress let's keep it going!

Sorry guys, I am going to have to admit defeat already - I am not going to be able to get my build anywhere close to done for this campaign. Work has been too hectic, I have barely started the M3A1 I was going to do, and I am am going to be away from my hobby desk at least half of May, so there is no chance I'll be anywhere close by June 2.

good luck to everyone else though!

{hangs head in shame}

I used Gunze IJA Green. In the past I have also used Tamiya's IJA Green. Both seem to be close matchs to me.

Here is another view to show my bad photography. Does anyone have any suggestions on lighting?

Well success at last in posting photos, I now feel that I can paint and finish this campaign.
