well Carl looks like you didn't forget how to model, D*mn nice, I can see you are old school, check out the artikels about making different shades into you green sherman, and filtering and stuff, also try to paint the tracks darker, like darkbrown mixed whit steel and black
then wash with ..lets say burned sienna, and a drybrush of the raised parts with an alu colour, after that you could even go for the pigments to dusten it up a little.
but like said, being longer away then I'm old, big Thumbs up for you

Hi fokes.
Well a bit late and while I'm writing this post I know for sure I wouldn't make it in time for the deadline.
I'm planing to make this sherman.
Large picture click HERE
I've got the following things for this beauty
Basis Kit: Dragon 6035 M4A4 Sherman.
Turret: Trakz TX 0074 Sherman turret early
Suspention: AFV Club VVSS Suspention
Tracks: ModelKasten SK-45 M4 T54E1 tracks (Still looking for some nice modelkasten or panda duckbills )
Tools: Formations WWII Pioneer Tools without Brackets.
PE: ABER ande other
Option
Interieur: Tank Work Shop M4 early interior
(M4A3 without de M4A3 engine )
I've started with de modelkasten tracks: 9 pieces per link. I've completed a serie of 14 links with over 100 pieces.
This wil be the main reasion I wouldn't be able to make it in time.
But who knows I'll give it a try

Jan)- It is the 1/35 DML offering from a few years ago, built oob. It went together very nicely. No fit problems. The instructions require full attention, but are not as confusing as some of the DML later kits. Painted with Life Color Paints. (It is the first time I have used these and I am pleasantly suprised. I will be using them quite a bit on upcoming builds. I love them) I did just a little bit of chips and scuffs in the high wear areas using a burnt metal enamel paint. It looks like rusted metal. Then I did a brown wash with highly diluted oils. The fuel spills were done with highly diluted oily black oils. The picture did not capture the really nice faded green color very well, but I can tell you the color looks like allied faded green.
I just did this as a quick build because I wanted some experience with a Sherman, and this campaign was a perfect canvas. But after seeing some of the other (stunning) entries, I humbly submit myself for judgement from the Sherman Gods.

Doug, the easiest way to post an image to this forum is to upload it to your gallery here. After doing that, go to your gallery and click on the picture you want to appear in your posting. Below the picture you will see the text Linked Thumbnail with an edit field (box) to the right of it. Below this field is an icon of a small monitor. When you click on that it will show a URl in the form:
Code:
<img src="http://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/500/001142.JPG" />
The part that you want to copy and paste is the part between the quotation marks. You'd set it up like this:
Code:
img]http://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/500/001142.JPG[/img
Please note that I purposely left off the closing square brackets at the beginning and the end so that it would display the code and not an actual image. By adding a "[" at the beginning and a "]" at the end of the above line you get:
Hope this helps!

I have a very brief update tonight. I have applied a pre-shade of flat black and sprayed the base coat of Model Master olive drab.
After the base coat was shot, I assembled the suspension components. I will let this dry overnight and hopefully shoot it again tomorrow with a lighted shade of the base coat.

Hey all,
I just enlisted when i realized im sitting here building a sherman over the summer, and lo and behold, there is a campaign!
This will be my first...
working on Dragons M4A3E8 "thunderbolt IV". I liked the look of the additional armor (different), but was torn because the few pictures ive seen there wasnt much stowage on the tank...maybe those are post war? (comments anybody).
I think im going to take some artistic licence and add a moderate amount of stowage.
Im also making the minor corrections needed to the kit. Im about to leave out of town till the 26th, so i should post some progress pics then.
GREAT CAMPAIGN!
Andy

Hi guys, I started work this weekend on a knocked out Sherman that I was going to use in a diorama with a semovente 75/18. However, I've ended up adding more detail to the Sherman than the SPG and am starting to think it may be better as a stand alone peice, perhaps with a couple of figures. Would this qualify for the campaign?
It's just the upper-hull and turret of a M4A3, not the complete tank.
Thanks,
James

1. Firefly Ic hybrid hull - ZEMSTA II, 3rd Squadron, 1st Krechowiecki Lancers Regiment - almost finished.
2. M4A1 (76) - "Flying Cow", HQ Squadron, 2nd Armored Regiment, 1st Polish Armored Division - little work to finish.
3. Firefly Vc - work didn't even started, but it will be ready, some of 1st Polish Armored Division.
4. M4A1 (mid production) - 1/3 done, I don't know yet what markings.
5. M10 - almost finished, U.S. markings, Normandy.
6. M12 - almost finished, U.S. markings, Normandy.
Soon I will have more Shermans, I hope I make them before 1st September (another Firefly Vc, M4A3E8, Mk. III, British Mk. III mid production Sicily, maybe "El Alamein" M4A1...)

Here is an update of my build that is going very very slow at the moment . there are a few first for me on this build resin,P/E, and a bit of scratch build. the main reason for the scratch.is the poor fit of some of the resin parts, one of the main support beams was 3mm to short so had to use some evergreen trunking to replace it pic 1.I,ve also had trouble with the removale of some parts breaking but thats just clumsy me.Also these link traks not used to they do take a long time to put together .I,am aiso planning on using some of this stowage set to fill up the rear deck area

Ok, here are some photos, not good, but before photo session I want to know your opinion about my poor models...
"US" shelf
"Polish" shelf, not Polish made, but used by Polish forces (but there are also Polish 7TP and TKS)
Humber and Firefly Vc - bad position of decal "ZEMSTSA II", but now i have correct decals from Hussar, so it will be good. Also white painting of barrel bottom is missing.
Comet before any wheathering, some missing small parts.
Churchill is almost done.
Staghound before wheathering, missing some parts.
Hellcat is waiting for metal tracks, .50 machine gun, machine gunner and accesories set.
I know my models are not so great like yours, but I still learning

Michal you have a nice army of armor, from what I saw in the photos they are good and you should be proud to show them. I also like the display shelf/cabinet, I have been looking for one myself.

Hi all,
Haven't posted in this thread for some time (and haven't built much either). Good news though, I graduated for my study Logistics & Economics at Rotterdam University Result: far more time for modelling and of course nice future perspectives
I've been doing some research lately to Dutch military actions in Indonesia (just after WW2 when Indonesian nationalists claimed the Republic Indonesia, but the Dutch government didn't wanted to give up it's old colony). Came across some nice Sherman pictures as well. Dutch marines used the M4A3 HVSS 105 tanks on Java. Thought it would be a good idea to post here!
See this page and scroll down, you'll find several unique post-war Sherman pics along the way!

Hi,
The Dutch marines on Java were trained in the US (Camp Lejuene) during/just after WW2. The poster is for recruitment and tells that the training is in the US....making it more of an adventure I guess and of course US military had shown it's might during the liberation of NW-Europe, so being trained in the US must indeed have been an adventure for most volunteers!
More interesting pics on another page of the same website with more Shermans, but also Amtracks, Stuart tanks, Universal carriers, various trucks...
Back to building Shermans now Going to find myself a driver for my M32!
