Robert,
The inspiration was a color plate in British Sherman Tanks. The caption says its 1st Armored Coldstream Guards, Germany 1945.

The shadow shading on the underside of the barrel is what made me thank that it was in Italy.

Update. Now I have to wait for my bogie skids and fenders from Formation. While I wait I'll ponder what the color/markings will be. The loaders hatch is a spare from the Italeri kit modified. This (according to Zaloga) is the correct "low profile" type of hatch. The main difference between it and the kit supplied hatch is around the hinges. This hatch is supplied in the new Sherman PTO but I didn't want to rob it from the kit because it seems to be the type I'd use rather than the later coupola. It's also in the M4A3E8 105 kit but that's the only one I don't have yet and I'm not sure if it's not used in that kit either. The spare track racks are from the Italeri kit as well and the casting numbers are from Archer Fine Transfers.

So while I'm waiting for the stuff from Formations for the N4A1(76) I thought I'd be able to squeeze one more in. Academy's M36

Another Campaign I don't think I can finish in time.

No more campaigns for me to much work and stuff and not enough time.

But here is mine so far.

Who would be interested in campaign focused on M4 Sherman tank.
All vehicles based on Sherman components (recovery, SPG, GMC, prime movers, etc) would be allowed.
No specific time frames or country so there would be a lot of options.
Start date: April 4th. Ends: September 1st

Hey would my M-10 that I just finished be considered as one for the Campaign?

Double update today I've decided that the M4A1(76) will have the Polish markings from the kit's decal sheet. So I painted the end of the barrel white with yellow green top. Work is progressing on the M36 as well.

Here's my entry for the campaign. It depicts an M4 from the 4th Armored Division's 37th Tank Battalion engaged in the fighting around Arracourt, France in mid-September, 1944. I started out with DML's British desert Sherman III and converted it with Formation's M4 rear hull and engine deck kit, then topped it off with a Formations late low bustle turret with cast in cheek armor.

I plan on eventually putting this in a diorama with a knocked out Panther A that I'm building for the upcoming Big Cats Campaign. There are some other pics in the campaign's galler as well as my own. Hope it's acceptable.

Nice looking Sherman Ed!

Jan the sandbags are from Verlinden's M10/M36 stowage set. It sits too high and would block the view from the driver/radioman's periscopes so I had to sand it down so it would be below the level of the upper hull.

Hi all,

I've been very busy with my radio controlled 1/16 Sherman the last 2-3 days. It's the old Tamiya kit, upgraded to full option (electronics) and fitted with a resin T-23 turret and new engine deck. Well new....it's a very old conversion kit that just didn't wanna fit. New ones available these days are far better.

Anyway, it was time for a dry-test-run. Here we go! Don't mind about the sound by the way...much better in real but this gives you an idea.

This is how it looks in the inside. The electronics are the full option items from Tamiya. Very nice stuff, easy to install and works great. Only 1 downside....$$$

The switches and charging plug are installed under the engine deck for easy access. The hatches had to be removed with a saw, which caused quite some trouble. The fragile material broke on several places, making it a bit of a nightmare to get the deck installed in the hull. Lots of sawing, filling, sanding and so on....

From the outside. As you all can see.....still a lot of work to do!

Although this tank won't become my campaign entry (will take far too much time to finish) I thought this thread would be a nice place to post about it anyway

WOW!

I haven't been here for a while and it seems that I've missed a lot of great stuff . These models are great. I'm having second thoughts on posting pictures of my M4.... .
Anyway, theese are great.

@ Martin - it's the biggest Sub-woofer installed in pimped up ride I've ever seen . Could you make a movie of this monster on the run and post it somewhere? It sounds great but I'm curious how it drives

Sure....once it runs Need to find some missing parts for the suspension first

But once found and installed it should work just fine

Lesson for you: never drink and glue - it ends like this
Can't wait to see this one done. I'm thinking about some RC for my son - he is 3 months old right now so it gives me few years for testing and improving the machine

Nice plan. I'd recommend the Hen Long Panzer III to get started with if you don't want to spend too much right away. Run pretty nice (with some upgrades really nice) and you can see then if you like it all enough to buy one of the much better Tamiya kits.

I was thinking about Panzer III or Tiger. They both look accurate enough to make them easy to improve (Panther is a disaster ).
Maybe next Christmas
