Mike

I like the idea of the mud on the lower hull but I always thought you applied that after all the initial paint was applied.in order to give it a more natural look. If you can give me some suggestions regarding this it would be great.

Hi Randy,

Different strokes for different folks I 'spose. I like to apply the mud to hulls first-then paint. My reasoning being #1 why should I waste paint on an area that's going to be covered with mud? #2 That area is going to be painted along with the mud as well. My hulls never have the camo scheme going directly to the bottom, they always fade into dirt. On parts like the Sherman bogies-they get painted before assembly. Not OD but dark brown and are muddied up after they're attached. I like to use celluclay because you can make it look stringy as if there is some organic material in with the mud.

Mike

Mike, cool build so far. And I like the pre-mud concept. Not a bad idea. At this stage do you also apply the mud under the fenders and other areas ?

Hello everyone,

I am at the point of having a rage attack and breaking my model by throwing it at the wall. It's the stupid AFV Club workable tracks... They should have been called "fall apart" instead of workable. Slightest attempt at adjustment and they start falling apart. Did any one work with them before?

Really, just because of the tracks, I might abandon my Paladin and drop from this campaign. I've had it tonight. It's been 2 hours and I still couldn't properly place the tracks on one side, they keep falling apart.

Emre,

Any plastic track that "clicks" together and is supposed to work is just not gonna happen. You need to glue them together.

I know that, I will glue them once I can give them their shape. However, they move around before I can glue them and while I am trying to give them shape, a part falls off. Then another part comes off, and it goes on like that.

Can't glue them directly, because the tracks tend to wiggle and be crooked. I ran out of patience yesterday, it was like trying to plug a breaking dam with your fingers.

I understand your frustration... same thing happened to me with a Dragon Magic Tracks Panzer I, they kept falling apart. The only single track link I made ok were some ModelKasten, the small pins require patience but they work !

I have so many Drgon kits to finish... are they all going to be that way damn

You have to glue the tracks as you assemble them. I put out a puddle of cement and dip the track in it lightly to get a bit of glue where it will connect and assemble the tracks in runs of whatever's convenient. Sometimes a assemble a length of tracks and run a brush of liquid cenment along them. After a few minutes the tracks are set enough that they won't come apart yet can be shaped as you like.

Hi
have you tried liquid cement to tack them together . let that dry a little just so they stay together but are still flexible then place them on the wheels/sprocket & then go over them with a little bit more of the liquid cement.. It's very fiddly but it usually works.
Never use ordinary cement only the liquid brush on type when ever I've done these type of tracks.

Emre when I did my Dragon link tracks for my sherman I put some masking tape down on my worck bench with the sticky side up and assembled the tracks on the masking tape to hold in place like that then did the same as Mike and ran a small amount of liquide poly on to the traks. Just a suggestion it worked for me hope this helps.

This is all very strange. Mine were a push-fit - it was almost too difficult to get them to come apart, so much so that I managed to break one locating pin, and I could wiggle them around with no problem. If they're (mis)behaving like Magic Tracks, all the other tips on here are good ones. Don't chuck it at the wall, it's looking too good for that!
