Well I've seen some very good models in this campaign so far. As for myself, I'd like to join in on the campaigning fun with a "Grille". I also ordered a few extras and a reference book:
Cheers everyone!

A little update:
The Brummbar already got the wheels, tracks were painted too.
Next, equipment, decals.
The Su-122, washed several times to give a worn winter wash look, wheels painted and "mudded", tracks painted too.
Pics soon!!

I am really looking forward to follow your build, Sebastian. The Grille sIG 33/2 is on my shopping list, but I have resisted so far. It will be interesting to hear your judgement on it.
John, looking forward to see the pictures. It sounds like you have been a busy man.

Well, the Gallery is located here:
http://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/22562note that the typo on the first page was actually one too many "http://"s! Thanks for catching that.
But to upload photos, the link is:
http://gallery.kitmaker.net/uploadphoto.phpand select the "self propelled indirect fire" option from the "choose a category to upload your photos to" pulldown menu.
make sure you are logged in and such.
let me know if you are still having problems.

Well, I haven't really done an awful lot on the kit itself. I've assembled only a few parts like the superstructure sides (including the 98k rack which was an extremely tedious bit of work), the gun cradle (IMO the most difficult part in the kit to get right), all of the suspension parts and the Modelkasten tracks. I will begin by assembling the driver compartment interior parts from the Tristar set I bought and then paint the interior. After that I'll slowly assemble the model and add the Griffon Model PE parts where desired.
As for the actual kit itself I'm very pleased. The parts are all very cleanly molded and assembly is for the most part quite easy (except for the gun cradle and some of the PE parts). I think I have to agree with mostly everything said in the review on PMMS. One thing that I find to my disliking is the slightly warped front plate (the warpage will go away once this part's installed, for certain) and the also warped rear hull plate which is missing a port that can clearly be seen on reference material. If this is something that might bother you then I have a simple solution. There is a part included in the kit that is not used in the build of the Grille (possibly the rear hull plate for the Gepard?) which does feature this missing port. The part is G22 and all you have to do is isolate and modify the port and then glue it to the Grille's rear hull plate. I haven't had the chance to take pictures seeing as I have a lot of other things going on right now. I'll post pictures probably sometime next week or as soon as possible. Once I start doing more on the model I'll post regularly!

I have that one too but haven't tackle it yet.
Also have the Grille Alan version, ... mmh I might do a double build to check the differences...
Keep us posted on the updates Sebastian !

I bet there will be a lot of differences. It could be a very interesting comparison.
Sebastian, thanks for the first feed back on the kit.

I forgot to mention:
The 'Nuts & Bolts Vol. 22' includes a little model section where the author talks about modelling the Alan Grille and the Cyber-Hobby Munitionswagen. There are also a couple of pictures with the two completed models shown next to each other. While there are some noticeable differences in terms of quality I must say that the Alan Grille is still looking quite good. I would probably give up on the Alan Grille because I find it would be too much work. Life is easy with a Smart Kit.
As for now I have nothing new to report on the DML Grille.
Cheers!

Today I had just a half hour to commit to modelling and I felt like trying something new. Seeing as I also invested in a PE set from Griffon Model for my Grille I thought I'd take a look at some of the hop-up parts that are included. I already knew I'd be using the little hinges on my model so I removed the plastic ones from all the exterior parts over the weekend and today I tried assembling a PE hinge. This is the result:
This is one of the little hinges on the driver's hatch. It took me a little while to work out an efficient technique to assemble the hinge which would save me time. The finished part consists of two seperate PE parts and a bit of 0.3mm copper wire. It is fully functional.
I took a second photo so that you can fully comprehend the scale of the hinge. It's a sneaky little devil.
(Please ignore the spilled glue on the instructions
)
That's all for now, Cheers!

A new project for my free (unemployed) time
some pics of the last two days work
I've been working on this pretty much from the time the wife leaves for work, till the time she gets home, broken up by the occasional spot of housework
Just some final detailing and painting to do, then I'll call it finished

Nice paint job, & I like those Grenade shields are they part of the kit or an aftermarket item.

Here it is, first the brummbar with a little wash / shade.
Tracks are ready, so this week the decals and the hull will be fixed.
No side skirts, the Tamyia fits were pretty bad over the Eduard Zimmerit.
Also the finished Su-122:
It's the Tamyia kit.
German markings with a winter wash and mud done with Tamyia powders.
base paint done with 2 tone german camo set over a russian dark green.
Several layers of Oil yellow ochre and Red Oxyde transparent .
