"Q",
Excellent job on that old Tamiya kit, looks sweet.
You're probably better off without the 'batwings' as those were used on M16A1's (converted M3's) and not regular M16's.

Since I enjoyed the M16 so much, I thought I would build another entry for the campaign. The German equivalent of the M16, the Drilling. I'm using AFV Club's kit and man is this thing labor intensive. A complete 180 from building the Tamiya kit. Anyway, I started this on Saturday and pretty much got the suspension completed. Focused on the cab and interior for most of Sunday, and finally got most of it painted today. Now I wait for the Humbrol colors to dry. I decided to forgoe the use of all the PE on this. I have some other projects I can use them on later. Anyhooo, here it is drying. Thanks, "Q"
ps. Just found out I have my star on my M16 on upside down so I'll be fixing that soon...

Last post before bed (0135 hours) Got my gloss coat on, decals applied, and wash laid in. So far, so good. Still need to add some extra gear, pioneer tools and paint the tires. Hoping to get her wrapped up tomorrow before work. Thanks, "Q"

Started my Tamiya 1/48 Halftrack two nights ago. I will post a pic of my slight progress soon. Hope to have it finished before the campaign ends.

Says who ?
You can find several wartime photos with the star pointing towards the front end as well as pointing towards the cab, both ways are not only acceptable but very easy to prove.
The camo pattern on your German HT is outstanding, looks very 'in scale'

From what I have found, the Air Identification Marking (Circled star) which was only used in WWII has the point facing the cab, and only the cab. The plain star can face either way. Not a big deal. I did finish my Drilling this morning though. Couldn't sleep so I got up and got going on it again. Thanks for the kudos on the paint. Still plan on adding some extra goodies to it a little later. Right now, I have some gloss white to shoot on a C-46 that I have been neglecting for too long. Thanks, "Q"

Thanks for the kudos Keith.
I work nights so I have lots of time to get the tedious stuff like parts clean up knocked out. Then I spend a little time at the bench for glue up and painting. Makes for a pretty smooth process. I got and M21 underway currently. Might have to take a few days off from it though as other matters are forcing their way into the important line lol. Thanks again for the kind words. "Q"

Started another one last night while at work. Tamiyas M-21 Mortar Carrier. Pretty much the same drill as the M-16. Basic frame and suspension completed, major body panels assembled. Now its just a matter of painting, assemblying, detail painting and weathering. I delayed my other project somewhat so it'll give me time to mess with this. Thanks, "Q"

Yeah, I guess thats one of the bene's of working night shift. All the quiet time I could want. I have two more under way. The M-21 which about done minus all the crew gear etc. and finally weathering, and following Bill Plunks idea of keeping a time log of how long it takes to complete one, minus waiting paint to dry etc, the Dragon 251/17 which I started last night. Mostly parts clean up, but I did get some assembly done. Don't know why I put off building these dragon kits earlier as they are extremely nice! So far all the lower hull details are done and ready for paint, and about 95% of the interior is ready for paint. I plan on working on the gun tonight. So far I'm into it about 4.5 hours. I think the tracks are going to slow me down though... go figure... Umpteen hundred pieces the size of a gnats a**.
Hope to get some pics up of them later tomorrow. Thanks, "Q"

This one makes #3 for me in the campaign. I think that I will stop at that..lol. I just got into a roll and enjoyed building them so much I just kept going. I need to go back and add the third bar to the handle of the jerry cans, but that is an easy fix. Don't know why I didn't do it earlier. Only realized I needed to do after seeing my pics. Isn't that always the case??. Anyhooo, Tamiya's M-21 81mm mortar carrier and all it's included stowage minus the crew. I'm not real happy with the way the logs came out, so I will probably touch those up with some oils a littel later once they dry a little more. They are still workable now...gotta love oil paints.. lol. Again, for an older kit it builds up really well. As to accuracy, don't know, don't care. Looks like a halftrack to me I'd like to find the M3A2 kit so I could build all three of them. They seem to be very popular on Ebay and are fetching some silly prices. Guess I'll just have to be patient to get one at a good price. Anyway, here it is. Thanks, "Q"
ps. I changed out the original pics with ones that I photo-shopped the yellow hue out of. You can actually see the model better with these... Thanks again.

Wohohow!!
What's going on here?
There's so many beauty's being shown here; I don't know where to begin!
@ Keith: Love your M16. Great work.
@ Tuomas: How's the SdKfz 251/22 coming along? I really like what you did to it so far.
@ Todd: Please finish that Land Rover. I have to see how it turns out!
@ Mirko: Your dio really turned out great!! I love the mover, love the gun and I certainly love the figures!
@ Carl: your blog sure is something different. Can you please post some more pictures? I really would like to see more details.
and finally, there's Matthew.
Boy, you are rocking! Dizzying buildspeed and a superb level of building!!!
The colours are especially great!!
And then there's my humble addition to this outstanding campaign.
I added quite a few bits and pieces so far, with more to come.
First the interior:
I added extra armor to the crewcompartment, the gunracks, more ammo and a lot of the missing parts and details. I lost the controllevers, so I made some new ones from old sdkfz 250-width indicators.
As for the exterior; there I added a MG42 with AA aimingring and ammobelt, as well as the fastenings for travelling. I also added details to the frontfenders.
On the nose I added a fieldapplied holder for the mortarbaseplate.
I twisted some fine copperwire together to make ropes which hang from the sides and which will hold equipment and personal gear in the end.
Enough talking. See for yourself:
And finally the Tamiyacrew I will be using:
The title of this build will be:
"Bist du dir da ganz sicher?"
(Are you really sure about this?)

Ron,
Very nice build so far. I haven't followed the thread, what kit/conversion is that you are building?

Well I finally got started a little while ago and have started a different post about it, but I thought I'd better post an update here.
Some fantastic builds going on and a lot of great finished ones I also noted, makes me feel like I'm a bit slow.
This is what I'm building
And during construction today.
Thanks for looking,
Bob

Warriors 75mm M3 Conversion WA MW004 is the conversion I'm using. Hard to decipher some of the instruction points. I had to rip apart and rebuild the back already because I didn't cut the donor kit down enough, then just the normal bubble holes, slightly bent parts, etc... I want to hear about the DML6467 M3 75mm Gun Motor Carriage Smart Kit I believe this will be my last conversion for this one.
Thanks for looking,

Hi all!
I've been lurking around for some time watching what you mates are building and I've suddenly figured out that I'm quite late... I've decided to start my entry then... This is going to be old Dragon's Kettenkrad... this kit is not very precize and it seems to be the oldest and worst DML kit I've ever had in my hands... Anyway, here we go:
