Thanks André !
I had a lot of fun paiting his freckles!
He's the one who is the best shaped among the group.
The three other fellas got smashed by the reds...
One miht extrapolate that his blanket saved his life.
And what about you André, what's your plan for this campaign ?
And the other enlisted, where are you ??
Let's post something, as we don't want to be the defeated campaign
Best,
Julien

My plan for this campaign is partially sunk Panther tank (I've already have some parts cut and glued) and four LW soldiers, wounded, retreating on the river bank.

Sounds good !
What figures do you plan to use ?
I recommand you the masterbox one, the panzer crew retreating, that you can mix with the last set of ss tankers from miniart (I really love miniart stuff !)

I will use this kit:
I was thinking about the MB kit, but in the same time I wanted to place the tank in the water...

I've modified my original plan a little. Instead of a stugIV, I'm going with a 1/48 Tamiya StugIII, Tamiya panzer IV with zimmerit, and AFV club 251/1 - all in varied degrees of whitewash. The Lead Stug has run out of fuel and the 4 infantry are seen racing some little jerry cans of fuel over to get the column going again. The commander is angry with hand on hip. This idea is from pics of operations in Narva.

@ Paul: nice start foir the painting. I guess at this scale the wash is very usefull to work the darness on the face of those little Jerries.
@Greg : the panzer IV looks really nice. Your idea for your diorama is cool !

OK, a new contest: first one to finish will receive additional reward from me (to put in "my workbench photos" section i.e.)

Nice builds, so far. Especially those Russians look very good!
I've been building a bit for this campaign, too.
I started with the 251's hull and did the most tedious part of this kit right away too! No more tracktrouble to put me off with this one!
I also did some glueing on the figures, which are standard Tamiya figures. A box which I had sitting around for ages.
Then I started with putting my idea, an abandoned Sd.Kfz. 251/22 on it's way to the front on a railwaycar, being overrun by a Sovjet advance.
I'll be using Ironside's railcar and trackbed.
I took some boxes and such and grouped the vehicle, the railcarsimulator and the figures together..... And immediately realised that this will turn into a large dio....
The white box will be the station's ramp, the brown box the station's building and the grey squares are the planking of the railcar...
Here's a detailshot of the figure group;
Why do my builds allways spin out of control???
I'll never get things finished this way..
Do I need to seek medical attention or psychological proffesionalists??

The campaign builds are getting good everyone. I added some whitewash to my stug using the hairspray method for the first time. I guess it came out all right. I used a brush to apply the whitewash but next time I'll try spraying to keep the paint on the thinner side.

It’s great to see that movement here increases! As usually I’m going to be last to start and first to ask for extension .
@ Paul James – fine looking figure! Is it 1/48? Spitfire looks very nice as well. Could you post some picture showing it’s profile? It looks like the hull is broken – am I right?
@ Ron – you’re going BIG , this is going to be very interesting diorama. OK, your scale is 1/35, Russians are from Tamiya, 251 is Dragon’s, but I must tell you that I’m not familiar with Ironside platform… could you tell me how much did it cost and is it still available somewhere?
Don’t ask for medical support… maybe it’s not too normal but remember that it gives a lot of fun – I prefer to be bit crazy and happy than 100% normal and dull…
@ Greg – all three vehicles visible on the picture are going to be on your diorama?
I have to start doing something for this campaign… I don’t want to be late again…
Andrzej

it is indeed 1/48 and yess ineedy the hull as you refer to it
( correct translation is " fuselage ! " ) has been twisted to signify hard emergency landing damage !
there will be more shots posted in time as i am working on the scenics at the moment !!

I used a similar set from Ironside, back when I did my "Eckinger"-build. You know, the 251 with the maptbale over the roof. That's when I bought this set too and it wasn't all that expensive. About €15, if memory serves me well.
And I know I'm not all that normal and it sure beats being sane and dull! It just complicates things more then absolutely necessary...

Andrzej,
all 3 vehicles (1/48) will be on a dio (I hope in time ) and 6 figures. I guess I'll find a lengthwise picture frame to build on. I'm still thinking of a title, like, "Lost Momentum" or "FNG forgot fuel" or something...

Nice one Paul. One remark only, you might have insist a llittle more on the tracks in the earth left by the spit. But it's too late. I really like the pilot discussing with the heer guy.
Ron, what a project !! I have the same disease, but usually I finnish with very little project, scaled to my skills
I nearly finish sculpting job on the cossack, so I can start the painting. It remains the mounted officer, and I really hate making horse !! maybe I might switch for a mule...
Best

Paul, fine diorama. I agree with Julien concerning skid marks but apart from this I think that diorama is great.
I really love the pilot: he is being captured but he looks so happy that he landed and so excited about it that only think he is thinking about is to tell someone about it: "You've seen me landing? Yes? You know, you've shoot me and then I went wheeeeewww and than zhoooom... Seen that? Yeah? Man, I've landed... seen that?"
As prommised - special reward goes to you as first to finish his entry
Thanks for sharing mate!

cheers julien and andrzej !! been an enjoyable build and one that sort of fell together once the parts were all together
i was unsure on the marks weather to go for it and risk making it too heavy or edge on not overdoing it ..
