BTW, Does anyone have 2 extra unit decals for the 9th SS Panzer Div that they could part with ? milvehfan
I am away from my stash right now, but I probably have a couple I could part with. I might even have them in different sizes. I will look in my stash this week. After all I need some AA cover for my Pz. IV.
If you have not heard from me by Monday give me a reminder

Hi all, Glad to see some of us have started our projects . This weekend I got all the parts cleaned up and got the first 3 steps of the instructions done. . For an older kit I was surprised that there was not as much flash to clean up.
I also finally picked up my 1st digital camera, now to figure-out how to use it and get some pics posted on here. ( I am not well versed in Modern-Electronic stuff). LOL
JESPER- Thanks, if you come across any decals, that would be cool, the ones I had hoped to use are from an old Tamiya kit and upon close inspection they seem to have yellowed and cracked a bit.

It's good to see that others are getting a start on their builds, I'm still working on figuring out if my hybrid hull firefly can be used
so far no luck.

Cody, Iam sure that some of our British History Buffs or Shermanholics can provide you with the info you need. Try Posting in another fourm on here and see what you can find out. Its seems to me that XXX Corps would have had some of the newest and best Armor to carry out its mission for Market Garden. Good Luck in you search. I'd really like to see this one built for the Campaign, milvehfan

I have gotten confirmation that the Irish Guards did have some Hybrids as of August 31st, which unless they were knocked out which doesn't seem highly likely from accounts of the fighting going on at that time, mostly chasing after retreating Germans and catching the odd convoy.
So I think the Ic Hybrid qualifies for the campaign and I shall be starting it as soon as it arrives.
I am also planning a scene with the masterbox para's and some homemade glider bits.

I tend to agree with you, Cody. Given the status of the fighting at that time, the Sherman Hybrids would most likely still be in service for Market Garden.
Looking forward to see your build progress.

well...... since I saw the purple..... I started too.
Here's my little contribution and homeage to those "who fell from the skies";
This is the concept; A glider has come to a standstill, hitting a tree at the last moment.
The wounded are treated beneath the shelterproviding wing, while the brass and the rest of the group trie to figure out where the hell they are!
I'm using only the 2 MB-boxes;
This is what the basics look like;
The figures:
The general idea;
The red pencil will magically transform into a tree and the grey cardboard into a piece of Horsagliderwing! The gliderpilot is assessing the damage.
a topview:
This will be an axcellent oportunity to brush up on my camouflage-paintingskills!

Hey Ron, great idea ! Think it's going 2 B a original & goodlooking dio.
I mentioned a while ago that I was going 2 build a 251/1 & a Pak 40. Guess what happened last saturday ? I was my local shop, (www.modelbattalion.be) and a lovely Tiger II with a Porscheturret from Dragon followed me home ! Now tell me what can I do ? Yeah ! Build the beast ! It'll be a "Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506" version ! The 251/1 & Pak 40 are banned 2 the attic. Grtz 2 all & go 4 it ! Eddy

I have begun the Firefly, It might take me a while since I'm swapping out parts for more detailed parts I have in my spares bin.

Hi Guys,
Been follwoing this one. If you'll accept a couple of figure builds then I'll sign up. Not going for anything else as I'll simply never get it finished in time. I still haven't started my Sherman from the last campaign I joined!!
First one will be the Para Stretcher Bearer:
If figures aren't acceptable then no worries I'm happy to watch.

Hi Alan. Excellent job on the figure.
I am not the campaign leader, so I do not have the final say in this matter. However, as I see the rules for the campaign figures should be acceptable as entries for this campaign, but they need to be in a diorama or viginette, as this is a diorama campaign.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Jasper,
Thanks for the info on the rules. I'll sit this one out then, as I'm only working on some figures and ideas at the moment.
Have fun and I look forward tio seeing the builds develop.

Hi, Sadly a bit late to sign up for this campaign, but will be keeping an eye on all your builds. My main interest is in the bridge battles with the parachute regiment. Although a Marine, Market Garden was an inspriation of what the fighting british soldier was all about. Fighting on in the face of adversity.
Enough, all of you in the campaign have good builds and pray that you get them all finished in the time allocated. Look forward to the finished products.

I've been tinkering around a bit on my landingsite-dio..
I changed it a bit, by adding a part of the fuselage of the Horsa too. I think that it looks better this way.
I build it up using plasticcard. For all measurements I'm using ecploded diagrams I found on a Russian site. I'm surprised that it is so hard to find good references at all!
The section marked in yellow is the part I'm building.
First I made a cirkel of 8,7cm in diameter. I then split that in two and cut of a piece, hoping to create an asymetrical appearance of the fuselage in the diorama, later on.
In this picture you can see the angle of the wing. The red line is the centre of the wing.
The diorama looks like this now, which I feel is a much needed improvement on the previous layout.

Hey yeahwiggie, I like the layout even better, but you may consider not having the fuselage running parallel with the base. Just my two cents. I really like the concept very much and I'm looking forward to seeing progress on the Horsa. Very cool.

Ron your LZ dio should be awesome when it's done and with Mobious's suggestion it will be outstanding.
I'm still working on the composition of my scene with the Firefly, I have some US infantry that are going to be converted into para-troopers and a kubelwagen that I might toss in but I'm not sure.
The firefly is coming along nicely, when the directions are right it's even easier. I will be posting some progress pictures soon.
Keep building and good luck.
P.S. Ron I'm looking to make a piece of a Horsa wing for my second dio but I don't know the dimensions, If you could send me a PM with the site where you found that diagram it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, guys!
Unfortunately I allready fixed the fuselage to the base. Also did the asymetrical appearancxe not quite work out the way I planned/hoped it would...
So I just have to live with it.

Hi Guys,
Well I may never finish but I'll join in. I had a busy week after I got the Stretcher Bearer done and have created a few more troops. If this doesn't finish until December then I might get something completed. Anyway it will be fun trying.
The figures are a treat to paint, the detail on the equipment is excellent, probably the best I've seen.
I already had the wounded guys and the medic is a tanker less his side arm. The leaning para is one of the SKP figures and the rest are the new paras I got about 2 weeks ago. Ranks and uniform marking will need to be added. Not quite sure where I'm heading with these yet.
As an alternative I have the old Verlinden 'Battle for Arnhem' base and figures that has been sitting in a box for many years, I might give that a try, will see how things develop.

ALAN, I will only have 3 or 4 figures with my halftrack, hope mine turn out 1/2 as well as yours did. I am terrible at painting figures especially faces. Your figures are very Stunning. Well Done ! milvehfan
