Thanks Jan. Still looking for any other suitable material to fill the gaps -- am such a slob working with super glue. Worked on the sag for the last couple of days -- toyed around with metal pins, wires, and even with a piece of blu tack. Finally settled on wedging a piece of sprue and carefully sanding it down to a small flat profile. Painting and weathering should be able hide it.
Just now I've rummaged through some reference pics -- seems close enough I said.
And then the big revelation: I saw some Jagdpanthers with schurzen!
I was thinking about this as an alternative but never got around to looking at references first before working on the sag. Anyways, sag it is then.

My french duo and base is ready now. Now I just have to figure out the paint scheme..

@Tat - It's looking pretty good.
I looked at some real Panthers running on YouTube and generally the track, when it does hit the top of the road wheels, only hits the centre four or five. Therefore yours looks appropriate.
I think that adding the side skirts would have been allowable. Maybe you can do that on your second Panther.
@Kimmo - Can't upload pictures for a couple of weeks~
I haven't read that yet so thanks for the heads up. IF this situation persists I'll have to come up with a temporary alternative.

Got some progress done today on the M-24 between other projects. The oil paints are still wet here, and some toning down will be done later. I'll be adding some grass to the base i think.
So wouldn't a Chaffee make a good subject choice for a new Tamiya 1/48 release? Sorry to choose 1/48 as the target scale, but i've grown fond of the scale...having built of few of the newer Tamiya and Hobby Boss kits as quick projects.

@ Andrew - Looking really nice with the progress on your M-24. Amongst others I've always kind of liked the M-24 and it's newer brother the M-41. Sure would be nice if Dragon or someone put these out in 1/72.
I hope to start my build this coming week after I finish my submission for the Mighty Wheels campaign. I prefer one build on the bench at a time.

EXACTLY! Just as soon as I finish with the upgrades to the Initial Production Tiger I kit I now have on the bench I will start on my Humber Mk II. Some really good progress on the Matchbox builds here. I can't wait to start on mine.

Since gallery uploading is now working, here´s the current status.
The base:
Original Matchbox number is still remaining on the bottom, other original Matchbox details are covered during molding. As you see, some putty was needed.
Renault FT-17:
Tape is keeping track sections on place, I paint them separately.

Andy, the choice is really up to you but I do believe that the group discussed leaving the kit in the original colours would be acceptable. On the other hand, you will always have the pictures of the original coloured plastic thanks to your digital camera. In that case you might get more enjoyment if you paint and jazz up the vehicles and base. I vote for the latter option.

I'm sure I remember there being something special about the Priest tracks. I have this kit unmade, but distinctly remember going out especially to buy it when it was released because of the tracks. Something about them being made out of a different plastic that enabled them to be kind of moulded into shape and so fit better. Since I never got around the building it, I never found out if it worked.

The Chaffee is being called done. It was one of the Matchbox kits that i wanted as a kid, but never actually came into possesion of one. So that is now put right.
Like already mentioned the tracks are these models downfall, though the newer Revell ones are better i believe...they are softer than i remember the original black Matchbox versions. On the other hand the scenic bases are still their strong point, and the reason i loved them so much when i was 9 and 10.
Thanks for the campaign, a great idea to do something not so serious for a change. It's very likely i'll be back later to do the Sherman Firefly as well.

Congratulations on being the first to finish and post in the gallery.
The M-24 is totally in all it's glory with your build. The grass added to the base is a very nice touch and I am particularly taken by the MG-42 that you added to the foxhole. Beautiful job and thanks for participating and adding to the nostalgia.
Any additional builds will be at your discretion and equally appreciated.

Great M24 Andrew! I always thought the M24 base was one of the best.
Just got a Matchbox T34/76 on Ricardo (the Swis equivalent to e-bay). Hope to get a Comet and a Pz III as well.
Sadly lucked out on the Fujimi Sherman, that would have been a real gem...
Will post some pics of the finished rigging, hope to get some primer on this weekend as well...

Greetings all.
It's nice to see so much progress this early in the campaign. Two new people have enlisted and I have changed the progress chart to reflect this. To make the "bookwork" easier I have eliminated those from the chart that up to this point have not officially enlisted. I'm sure that they or others may join us later and I'll update the chart as necessary.

Shaun, that really looks like it's coming along nicely. I hope you don't mind if I post a couple of your images here.
The bridge looks to be quite involved and I am surprised at the intricacy of the suspension.
You've got to love these little kits.
BTW, the chart now reflects your changed status to under construction.

Hi all fellow Matchbox builders.
I finally got a start on the old Challenger and it hasn't exactly gone well. Maybe they are old moulds that were used but the fit isn't perfect and there was a fair amount of flash on some parts. Now add to this a warped hull bottom and breaking one road wheel during assembly and the build is turning out to be anything but simple.
Here's some progress pictures.
I should have studied the plans more because I tried to get the tracks on and I can't.
Everything on the hull is glued together and I can't get the tracks to fit between the sprocket and mud guard in the front or back.
Hope everyone else is having a better time.

I'm also having some trouble putting the kit together nicely; wonder how we did this in the old days. Perhaps nowadays we set are goals too high.........
Off course these are old kits and building them makes you realize how good the new kits are. I used to enjoy these models a lot but since 30 years my fingers grew bigger and my eyes worse
But back to my current project; the Churchill AVRE.
No pictures yet but the tank itself is ready for primer; still have to build the bridge.
As soon as there is something nice to see i will take some pics.
