I plan to start a couple of figures over the next few days. Old Tamiya stuff upgraded with new equipment and heads.

Here are the two projects that I will be working on.
"Modeling a photograph" campaign
I am going to have to carve off the molded on rifle sling and ammo pouches so that I can cut the figure in half so that I can have the upper torso turned to the right. I will also have to bend him forward slightly and reposition the arms. I might have to cut the neck so that he is looking down. I will need to make a rifle sling and a helmet strap and possible add new ammo pouches. Not really sure what else will have to be done until I get started on it.
"SNIPER II" campaign
I won't have to do as much to this figure. I needed to change out the arms so that I could have the bare arms. I will have to carve off the molded on belt and ammo pouches. I will have to make a chin strap for the helmet as well as straps for the rifle and binoculars. I will have to make a belt as well and possibly a belt buckle. Other than that it should be a fairly simple conversion.
I feel a little like Doctor Frankenstein!!
I will post some in-progress photos soon.
Thanks,
Harv

Hi Guys,
My project here is an overhaul of my figures. All 3 of then I built over 2 years ago when I 1st got back into modeling after about 30 years away. Then this year I found this site and you guys taught me how to really build model So i figured it was time to overhaul them. 1st they were stripped of their gear, some arms were removed and seams were scraped away
They all got new arms, some putty and sanding and the correct equipment for their weapon. Then were primed with rattle can gray. I started to add some paint to them and here is the latest progress
Still working on these guys so any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Biggest change, if I remember correctly, is the flak jacket .Army didn't usually carry KaBars..Other than that, everything else is pretty much as issued

A week has passed and i haven't even posted anything in my own campaign yet. What kind off leadership is that???
Since many of you have asked me this, I will allow adding weaponslings, helmetstraps and other "upgrades" too.
As for my progress...... there hasn't been anything yet.
I will be going with an older project I have started, being the "Millin"-vignette.
I took the standard MB-figures and all I did so far was adding barets and filling gaps. I did some "headturning", too. I will be adding new weapons, Bergenrucksacks and I need to scratch some equipment, such as daggers.

I am getting ready to get started with this campaign. I will use various Tamiya and Dragon sets and combine different parts to make some German tank hunters.

Here's a quick update on my entries. First of all, even though he's not for the campaign, here's a pic of the finished driver figure that I posted an in-progress pic of in an earlier post.
Now, as far as the figures for this campaign are concerned, here is the collection of major body parts I've found for use so far.
I still need a couple of upper bodies for the two sets of seated legs on the left. I'll do more work on the figures as soon as I get the priest closer to completion, which shouldn't be too far off. I'll post more pics when I get more done.

Here are some in-progress photos of my two projects. I got some work done but I still have a long way to go!!
MOTORCYCLE RIDER
I cut the figure in half at the waist and turned the torso to the right and made him lean forward. I cut the left arm in half at the elbow and moved the forearm towards the body. I also cut off the left hand and turned it so that the palm was facing to the right so that the hand would hold the rifle. I cut off the molded on rifle sling and ammo pouches. I am also going to have to remove the belt as it sits too high since I filled the gap in between the upper and lower torsos with putty. The right arm didn't require any cutting. I also cut off the head and turned it to the right so that he is looking at the kitten. That is all for him so far.
SNIPER
This one has been a lot easier. I cut off the molded on belt and removed some of the right pants pocket so that it was more flat. I took the arms from another figure to use as they have the bare forearms. I cut the right arm in half above the elbow and turned the forearm so that the palm was facing down. I cut the left arm in half above the elbow and turned the forearm so that it was turned to the right. I also cut off the left hand and turned it so that the palm was facing up. That is all for him so far.
I should have some more in-progress photos soon.
Thanks for looking.

Sal, looks good. The figures blend in with the StuG IV. I would give them a couple of washes. A heavily thinned light earth coloured wash for the clothes and a dark flesh wash for the skin areas. I think that would help bring out the details.
Here are some progress shots of my figures for this campaign. A mix of Tamiya parts, Verlinden heads, various equipment and weapons.
More to follow.

hi everyone,
here's my first contribution to the campaign, my Medic. i'm working on a Jagdpanther Dio which has a downed paratrooper and i thought it would be ideal to have a medic standing at the ready waiting to come to the rescue. problem was i didn't have a medic figure... so i am making one.
i started with a Dragon Gen 2 figure from the US Armored Infantry set. problem was, when placed next to all the other resin figures, it looked skinny and the folds didn't look as crisp.
it took various arms and placed them with the body that went with the legs.
you can see here that the head looks rather large for the arms and legs. i also need to make an armband but want to have the jacket fabric bunched up like i see in my reference pics.
this is the first stage where i am at right now. i made the legs and arms thicker with Milliput (standard Yellow/Gray).
i beefed up his back a bit to be more proportional to his now "meatier" stature. the figure still needs some sanding to polish it up and then i can start with his gear. too hard to do everything in one go for my skills.
here you can see how i faked in the armband. you can also see the filler on the head... Dragon makes Gen 2 faces separate from the rest of the head, something i am not too keen on but if that's what it takes to make a decent headsculpt.
i'll "end" this with a butt shot...
next for the Medic is to have his gear and support webbing made and then glue his hands and helmet on. i will post an update when i get him done and ready for paint.
if you want to check out the progress on my dio here's the link. great start everyone. cheers, mh.

Here is my entry for the campaign. They are going to be the Troy and his driver for the On TV Campaign. The figures start out as various parts from Tamiya, Italeri and Dragon heads.
The driver
For troy I took the bush hat off the head, then removed the head and replaced it with a dragon one. I had to remove the leggins and boots off the legs and then replace them with the german soldiers. The arms come from Tamiya's US Gun & Mortar Team set. I cann't put them on untill my jeep is finished. So for now Troy is done.
The driver I used the legs from the driver of the jeep, but I had to remove the cargo pockets. The upper body is from the Italeri Truck crew. The head is from dragon, and I changed the hand on the right arm to a different one. His hat is a reworked Tamiya WWII German hat. I cann't finish him until the jeep is done.
Once the jeep is done I will post the finish build of the soldiers and then on to the painting of them. As always all comments welcome.

hi Alan,
here's a ribbon idea i whipped up in 10 minutes. if you like it i can save it in the ribbon image file format and size you require (don't know but i think it's a GIF):
if you would like changes done or want me to make some other options let me know as it's no problem to help out.
cheers, mh.

Nice ribbon, Hellhound.
Maybe another background than the flags? Maybe colour bars like a normal campaign ribbon. I do not think the campaign is limited to the three nations.
The idea with figure parts work very well.
Just my 2 cents.
Just to show I have started painting my figures. Not much progress yet, but I will get there slowly but surely.

Nice going, guys!
Nice ribbon, too, but I allready had one. It can be seen on the campaign's page and on the first page of these postings.
@ Randy; figures are looking good so far. Maybe change the ammopouches on the rider. I did so myself and it makes a lot of difference in the overal appearance.
@ Sal: figs look good and I think Jesper has a point with the washes. You should also recheck the positioning of the equipment on the back.
@ Jesper: Great work on the old Tamiya figs. At first I thought the heads would be too big, but they turned out good!
@MH: The added creases look very good! There still is a small opening on the right handside of the jaquet, just below the belt.
@ Thomas: your conversion is interesting. What is it based on? The hat sits very high on the head, though.
@ Alan: you mean no banner? I didn't make one.
@ me; get my *ss in gear and start doing some modelling, instead of criticising....

Hi Guys,
Ron, Jasper thanks for the suggestion I will try adding the wash. I'll also do a double check of the equipment placement and move it if I can without too much damage

Ron
The figures are based on the show Rat Patrol. I know the bush hat looks high, I am going to check it against my reference in the morning. If it is two high hopefully i can remove it and trim down the head.

this is my first contribution to the campaign completed. the medic figure is finished and i am somewhat satisfied with the attempt. as always i wish i had done this better and that better but to get "better" i have to practice more and that's what this medic was all about:
here he is primed for paint. i see in this pic some areas that need refining and sanding but taking pics and reviewing them seems to really help me.
if i understand correctly i need to post a few of the work-in-progress pics to the campaign gallery (like 4 or 5 ?) and then my first of two figures is done. if you would like to see the figure finished in paint for my diorama i will be posting an update on my Jagdpanther Diorama blog in about a week or so when they're out of the paint department. cheers to all the great posts so far for this campaign, mh.
