Gentlemen,
due to the huge success of the "Paint those troops"-campaign, I would like to go one step further and start a new campaign for figures. The title says it all:"Change those troops."
The goal is to convert, alter, adjust or change the figures you are using for your vehicles or dioramas. Take a standard figure and redo it. It doesn't matter how; give him a new head, new limbs, bend the legs, sculpt new cloths.... whatever you like! Just as long as you convert that figure.
No complete sculpting of figures, though!

The rules;
1) Scale is 1/35 or 1/48,
2) you can use any material you feel comfortable with,
3) figures may have been built, but need to be rebuild for this campaign
4) you show your progress in image and word, so others can see what you did, how you did it, so they can learn from it. This is the main goal!
5) you can enter with as many figures as you like, but a ribbon will be awarded to those who complete at least 2 figures.
6) Figures need to be completed, that includes paiting, so we can see the endresult!
7) Timeframe will be from 01 september 2010 to 01 march 2011. This way you can combine it with other running campaigns.
8) there is no level of skill required. Anyone can join in.

Contest Element
You can enter with as many figures as you like, but in order to receive your award you must complete at least 2 complete figures. Half figures do count as half.....

Rule nr. 4 is a critical one. Show us what you did and how! I missed that a bit in the panting-campaign.

Well?
What do you think??

I would be interested. I am in the "Model A Photograph" campaign and I will need to convert a German motorcycle rider. So that will work out just right since I can combine the one figure with two campaigns. I will just have to come up with another figure to convert.

So I would enlist if it gets approved.

Sounds good, because you almost never use a figure as it comes out the box. Count me in.

Ron -

Another great idea. Quite beneficial for all and as mentioned practical also as it should work will with other 'Campaigns' going on. I've got plans for a sSSPzAbt 501 King Tiger in Ardennes and need to get a variety of Fallschirmjager 'tank riders'. I'll do modifications from the Dragon sets. Plenty of time to plan and gather. Count me in.

Hello to all, very nice idea!

Here is one fig that I have been working now, unfortunately I think it will be ready before the campaign starts. But let's put it here anyway

It's year 1948 and Germany has been declared a waist zone due to the nuclear devastation of year 1946 and has been surrounded with allied forces blocking all traffic in and out. There is still some groups left fighting with each others, but the land is so wasted that everyone has to wear heavy protection gear. That's the alternative history story behind the fig.

Maybe I'll give it a try? Two figures are not a big effort. I still have this guy from the Miniart set which can be done for a simple and separate vignette.

But I still need at least one more figure. Never mind, that's my problem, count me in.

Ron,
Im sure I can use this campaign to improve some of the lame looking figures that I did when I 1st started building earlier this year. Sort of like the Tank Overhaul campaign

This sounds like a fun one to do, count me in.
Have got a few figures that I want to play with so this will be the ideal opportunity.

Hi Guys,

Right, I've enlisted and might now get to finish those paras I intended to do for the previous campain but never quite got to

I've also got some infantry that kinda got half done and then put aside that need work on them, plus some new kits not yet opened.

So plenty to work on.

Thanks, Gary.

Damn, Alan. You beat me to it!!

I'm going to go for the 4 figures I was planning for the "Bill Millin"-vignette.

I really need to get some modelling done again.....

Due to the heat here today I cooked up a ribbon. Behind the pc is the coolest place in the house...

The large version;

and how it would look in the intended size;

What do you guys think?

Are the time frames already aproved by the staff? I have to find some other figures than just this one feldgendram and prepare myself for the battle.

Edit: never mind that question, I've already found the proper campaign to enlist

Hi Guys,

Well here are my contenders if they are acceptabele:

The first batch are quite old figures I half started to upgrade them and the couldn't make up my mind whether to finish them as Canadian Infantry or Commandos. They need a complete re-paint, the correct equipment, new bergens, etc.

The second batch are the remaining paras I have to do, a PIAT Mortar team, and the Welbike chaps. The PIAT Team are Tamiya/MB mix, the Wellbike chaps will get new heads and rifles.

The Next batch are my REs, It's a repaint of the heads mainly, plus finish off adding their equipment.

I still have a 3inch mortar crew to make from some DML figures, and some unboxed guys that might get started, but I fear the length of the campaign may not be long enough

Cheers

Hey Yeahwiggie,

Great campaign idea. I have to put my hands up and say that I didn't quite put much progress up on the campaign forum.

I hope this makes amends. I entered this figure in the 'Paint those Troops' campaign. I'm not entering this figure in this campaign (I'll be doing something completely different), but these are just a few shots to encourage everyone to go changing!

Here's two resin figures: A Russian hooligan and a Middle Eastern Terrorist. I am aiming to make a Croatian volunteer from Vukovar, 1991. [Ref: Osprey Elite 138, 'The Yugoslav Wars'.

After doing a bit of resin butchering, here are the pieces I need:

The main pieces needed a fair bit of filing to get them close to fitting together:

I had to fix the arms at an angle [holding them with blu-tack while superglue dried. Then Milliput to the rescue, to cover most of my rather shoddy workmanship!

Almost there- base colours:

Final product:

If you look closely, the legs are proportionately longer than the torso, and I was afraid to remove flash from the right hand in case I lost the fingers. But it's all a learning curve!
