Hey All, I was pretty much backed up by life on the last 3 months of campaigns so I'm going in with these guys

They are Polish Ski Troopers for the Modeling a Photograph Campaign.

I built them starting with pieces from the scrap bin (mostly old, anemic Tamiya figures) that were at least relatively close to the poses I needed. Then I bent them into final shape using a candle (details didn't matter). The snow suits were sculpted from Squadron Green Putty (what I had on hand. I wouldn't use it again) and the heads are Hornet Polish Troops with Helmets.

3 pairs of skis came from the Dragon German Ski Troops set. The other 2 are cut from sheet. The straps and buckle stuff is made from wire and Brass foil, while the 3 pairs of additional poles are streched styrene wrapped with wire to duplicate the Dragon poles. The ski pole "bases" (or whatever they're called) are PE from Dragon and, for some masochistic reason, I chose to replicate them with Fly tying wire (very fine Lead fishing line). This turned out to be a serious PITA! Never again!

Should all be wrapped up by Monday so I'll hit the deadline with hours to spare (as usual)

Nice figs everyone!! Wolfsangel, I love those ski troops!

Anyway, any chance for an extension? I'm traveling for work for the next four days for work so I won't be able to get my US Tank Crew done by the deadline.....

Great work so far!

I'll ask Gary for an extension. Will one month do?
My figures are done.... except for the painting...

A month would be good. I never got anywhere near what I hoped to get done - done

Pics uploaded to gallery but I'd like to finish the sailors.

Hey all, A "forced finish" as usual.

They came out alright for my first attempt and the best part was I learned a lot.

Thanks Ron, Mark, and Bruce for the earlier compliments. It was just the motivation I needed and I consider them very high compliments.
Thanks to Ron for running this one. It was a great idea.

Finally got these guys ready for paint:

I added wire for the headphones and microphone (made from two different thicknesses of copper wire from old motors and drafting tape for the plugs);
Goggle straps and some helmet details from drafting tape)
The figure on the far right got a new helmet flap in his neck made from Greenstuff. The original Dragon part did not fit at all.

@wolfsangel: Great to see those ski troops finished!!

Hi Charlie,

Nice work on the Ski troops. Great stuff folks.

Here are my RN Officer and Chief Petty Officer - form the German Bibber Crew. I haven't given these as much attention as I should but with time pressing.....

They will probably live here:

Hate to ask again, but is there any way to get a couple of extra days, say through Sunday? Real life getting in the way of modeling..... If not, that's ok, I'm sure I can use the figs for another campaign down the road...

As an update on my tank crew, I've got the base colors on two of the figs and their faces almost done....

Hi guys,
final day for this campaign, because we already had an extra month.
Make sure that the pictures are uploaded to the gallery!

I did see some really nice work coming by, but unfortunately I did not finish mine. I am thinking about giving up modelling all together, because I haven't done anything for so long and the drive still is totally absent. Maybe it will come back one day

I will give the rewards tomorrow and that will be it from me.

That's a shame, Ron. A quick glance at your gallery shows you did some great work when the drive was there.
Thanks for your time, though. Speaking for at least myself, we look forward to the day you change your mind, but thanks for sharing.

Hi Ron,

I didn't get anywhere near my British Infantry. Sorry to hear you thinking of calling it a day. I find a change in the spring light helps, winter I can get a bit down.

Thanks for the campaign some terrific conversions guys.

I gave it a shot and tried to finish one of the five figures. Here is the result of about two hours of painting. Don't know if I made it under the deadline, but will find out as soon as I submit this post

(edit): Darn, missed it by about an hour.... Had fun with this campaign though, finally got me to really work on some figures. I'm guessing it'll take me another 8 hours or so to finish the other four figures to complete the crew. And then I'll have to build them a ride

Hi Ron, thanks for running the campaign and for the ribbon. its a shame that you no longer have a drive for modeling anymore. Maybe an extended brake and a new hobby will renew your vigor.

Cool! I did make it right under the wire then!
Ron, thanks again for running the campaign. I wasn't quite as active as I could/should have been, but nevertheless it was a very enjoyable experience. And thanks to everyone for posting their entries. I always learn a lot from what other people do (read this as, "I always spend way too much time looking at other people's creations when I should be working on my own" ).

On to the next campaign!
