That's one piece of terrific work, mh!
Very good sculpting indeed. There's just one area that needs more attention and that's the crossbelt. It sits on top of the clothing, while it should be pressed into it.
Given the rest of the sculpting, that should be an easy thing for you to fix, right?

Hi Guys,
Meaty, your medic is looking good
I repositioned some of the gear on their backs, don't know why I had those canisters up like that
Photobucket
Then as Jasper suggested I gave them some washes, never thought to use a wash on a figure
Photobucket
Forgot to mention that the slings were made out of folded up tissue paper and stick glue. Here they are atop of their Stug IV
Photobucket
Think I need to add a strap onto the 1 canister. Flash makes them look a little bright

Ron you were right the hat was too high, so I removed the hat. Then I filed the head down some and used a dremal tool to carve out the inside of the hat to make it fit right. Here are my completed figures for the campaign. They were painted with Model Masters and Vallejo acrylic paints. I will post two pictures in the campaign gallery also.
This is the figures with all ams attached and puttied.

These are the finished figures.

Here is one of the figures in the jeep from the TV Campaign.

As always all comments welcome, now on to the next campaign.

Hi Thomas,
you could try and enhance the figures by giving them some washes, shadows and highlights, maybe even vary the tones of the different pieces of clothing. It would really improve the ffigures!

As for my own progress, I added most of the equipment to the figures.

The dot next to the Vickersgunner is a drummagazine for it. I need to make a pouch for those too.
Now on to some strap- and beltmaking and then the painting...

Ron,
Highlights, washes and shadows are one of the areas I need help with. I am not real comfortable trying to do any of that with the figures. What is a good reference for that? Thank you for the comments.

Ron,
That little dio is looking good, I like the whole idea that you have going on there, but the bag pipe gut is presenting himself to be a great target Also lots of good work all around here.
I made a strap for the 1 canister out of extra plastic from a Mini-art kit put I think it came out a little too thick. Don't know if I like it I'll have to study it more before I take a picture of it How many pictures need to be put in the gallery?

Hi Guys,

Great stuff. H - great work on the Medic. Ron, nice

Right my first offering may or may not be acceptable.

On the rifleman I'll fill in the whole on his back and give him a slightly bigger bum. He will also be getting additional kit in the form of a bayonet that wasn't included in the kit.

The standing figure of these two will just be getting a new side arm from the Resicast set as the detail is better and the holster has the short hanging strap which the kit one doesn't.

On these two again nothing major just adding a small ammo pouch to each which wasn't included in their gear. The standing figure comes with a mug of tea but I might give him a microphone to hold instead.

I hope this one is running for a decent time - I have a lot of other troops to work on lol, lol.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

The builds are all looking good so far.
I'm in the middle of a flat move and in limbo for a while
Still haven't decided what I'm going to chop about but have a couple of sets I can play with.
Will hopefully get something posted when I set up a temporary work area.

Hi Guys,

I've put some paint on the cream figuers so you can see them.

Small ammo pouch above the pistol holsters on the two chaps in shorts. The rifleman has a bayonet added and the vehicle commander a new holster. Oh yes, I filled in the whole on the riflemans back and gave him a bit of a bum!

great job Alan, lots of great techniques and skills on display in this campaign.

quick noob campaign questions:

1) how many pics of each figure (2 figures required for campaign completion) do we upload to meet requirements?

2) if more than one, should 1 be converted/unpainted and the second the finished painted figure?

3) can we make a side-by-side of the before and after as one image file?

and i understand we should post the finished painted figure here as well just so the end results can be viewed. thanks in advance for the answers, mh.

1 photo per finished figure in the campaigngallery will do.

2) if more than one, should 1 be converted/unpainted and the second the finished painted figure?
These can be posted here, in the campaign itself.

3) can we make a side-by-side of the before and after as one image file?
That's a great idea! But I think some of the campaigners will be having a problem with getting that done, incl. me.

and i understand we should post the finished painted figure here as well just so the end results can be viewed.
Please do.

Here's an update on my M7 crew.

The figure on the left is a combination of the upper and lower bodies of two different Tamiya German artillery men with arms, hands, and boots with leggings from DML. The right arm was cut down and repositioned with a piece of paper clip wire. The figure in the middle has a Tamiya German artillery man's upper body and an Italeri GI's lower body with Tamiya arms and DML boots with leggings. The hands were cut off and repositioned with paper clip wire. The figure on the right is a Tamiya M4 tank commander with his right arm lowered to better fit the M7's pulpit. The white pieces of plastic around their necks are to mark where new collars will go in.

Here the figures have had their bigger gaps filled with Milliput while smaller ones were filled with Squadron white putty. Next up is shaping the putty as well as smoothing and blending joints. More updates when they're ready.

Anyone model sunglasses before? These bad-asses need their wayfarers.

I'm considering cutting the tiny sunglass shape from my thinnest styrene, painting black or dark brown, and white glue onto the face. Or is it necessary to carve, sand, and shape directly on the face, due to the tiny size? Or should I just press forward and find out for myself, ha ha.
thanks,
Sean.

Figure looks great, mh!

Sean, I would go for the styrene option on the sunglasses. If it doesn't work out you can still use putty or something.
And some thin wire for the legs of the glasses...

Hi Sean,

I know that there are some PE sunglasses available out there. However here is an article by one of the members that we haven't heard from in awhile. Maybe this will be of some help.

Here is some in-progress photos of my projects.

This is my first attempt at this type of camo. It isn't perfect but I figure that most of it will be hidden once I finish the scene. So I figured this would be a good chance to practice.

Thanks for looking. I should have some more in-progress photos soon.

Hi Bruce,

You medic looks terrific, excellent work.

Hi guys, lots going on here look forward to more developments.

Her's my efforts so far.

LRDG Commander

Just the addition of the new pistol holster, but painting is progressing.

Trooper 2

This chap had a No 4 Rifle so I cut it off and drilled out his hand, then I repleced it with A SMLE.

Trooper 3

I Just added a little fur to the bottom right hand edge of ther coat.

SAS Chaps

These two just go missing pistol ammo pouches

Infantry/Commandos

I decided to do these two as Commandos. So the Rifleman got a short bayonet and new head and the officer a new head also.

Hib Guys,

A bit more work on these two:

These are the New World Miniatures Canadian Officer and Soldier.

I have finished them as Royal Marine Commandos. The Soldier has a new bayonet. head and I added a rifle strap. The Officer has a new head, and lanyard for his pistol.

Some blackening on the faces might be appropriate!

Got my guys positioned finally. More details to come, then paint.

Lots of cutting and turning and adjusting and green putty and occasionally a styrene shim. Note too the yellow styrene to restore the sleeve roll on the driver. Slow progress, but kids' halloween costumes have precedence now.

I finally regained the inspiration for my M7 build, and with it my desire to work on the crew. First up are a couple of pics of two of the crew fully modified.

I fixed up chest pockets with milliput and plastic sheet, and added the rear pants pocket and fly from plastic sheet as well where necessary. The heads are DML items.
Once construction was done, I blocked in their uniform colors.

You'll notice there's a third crewman now. I forgot to get pics of him at the last stage of construction, but he looked much the same as the crewman with his right arm extended and had similar changes made. The figures are painted with Vallejo Field Drab and English Uniform to add some variety to their uniform colors.
I hope to have more done soon.
