Well guys I seem to be on a roll as I took another day off from work due to the snow so here is the next installments of my Tiger Progress.
1st up is a pic of the tracks.. It doesn't show to well in the photos, but its basecoat is rust, oversprayed to dull down with thinned africa braun. then I went over it with a grafite pencil.. It doesn't show up that well esp in photo's so I am thinking to drybrush the area's with steel... what does everyone else think?
The next two photo's show the camo applied.. I used Dunklegrun and burnt Sierria. I think I may have got too much of the red on the turrent roof but we will leave it be and see what happens after all the filters and weathering.
It's not all that easy to get thin lines on a 1/72 scale kit. esp for someone like me who has only moderate airbrushing skills. But all in all I don't think it looks to badly out of scale.
camo was sprayed at 5 to 8 lbs pressure using thinned down Model Master paints. Anyone have any tips, I'll listen.. lol
laters.

Hi Delbert,
Looks good to me. The only way I have found to spray thin lines on small subjects is exactly what you have done - low pressure and thinned paint. It is a good idea to keep a record of your mixes, so that when you find the perfect blend you remember what it was you did right! (Speaking from experience here) I don't know what your next stage is, but after the initial camo I usually mist the model with a mix of base colour and thinners at a ratio of 20:80, this tones down the colours and also blends everything in. If you want to give this a go I would recommend practicing on an old model first. Here is a Panther that I have at the same stage as you have reached, with the thinned down paint mist applied.
Hope this is some help. All the best,
Paul

Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning to fade the model but first I am going to apply the markings, and maybe some of the tools.so they will fade with the paint. I then have several other things I'm going to try with the finish.
I don't know exactly what the finished tank will look like, but I know I'll have learned some new (to me) stuff.

Some great work going on here keep up the good work
@ Delbert, Your tiger is looking great considering that it is 1/72 the tracks look fine to me. I had the same turret problem, sprayed too much green, went back over it with some more dunkelgelb
@ paul, hey thanks for that tip I will try that on a practice build

bit more done, slow but steady, rear bulkhead and engine sides painted an in.
seats in.
then we get to build a nice gearbox.
waste of time painting it cause then we hide the damn thing totally
gearbox nearly complete and dry fitted to check clearances.
tomorrows goin to be painting gearbox and installing it then start on the engine, thats gonna take a couple days as there is about 6 pages of the manual dedicated to builfing it and installing it (after its painted of course).
all whees painted , just a bit of weathering an paint tracks then i'll stick em on to get it on its feet.
cheers,
Graham

Nice build logs everyone
Delbert - I would vote to drybrush some steel on the teeth at least for more contrast.
Paul - good tip for the camo /airbrush and Delbert for low pressure as I have problems with this.
Graham - I like the colors you're using. I think when you're done, you should take a Dremel and cut some holes for viewing all that interior on one side like they do in the tank museums.
I'm waiting for barrels still and working on other projects for now

Small Tiger, small progress.
I really like the white-on-gray winter camo of the early Tigers, so, without being very accurate, I'm trying to backdate this kit. Of course there'll be plenty of inaccuracies, but I just can't face to buy another Tiger kit, so everyone will have to live with them

I'm digging this one for sure. I am finally to receive my AM zimm which has been backordered for a month.
My Pershing is complete for the KoWar Campaign, and the Afrika Korps Campaign doesn't start for a bit.
So looks like I'll be starting on my Tigger!

gday guys, well i got the tracks on temporarily they protect the wheels lol.
after two an a hlaf days the engine is painted an in, i was dry fitting it to make sure all the pipe work lined.
damn lucky it did cause after getting it in there the bloody thing would'nt come out , so its there to stay now.
still got some plumbing to add, those rubber hose (the bigger ones) are crap there in two pieces so dont bother tryin to handle em too much cause they just keep falling apart so i just carefully superglued em together an then in place , dont know yet what paint does to em but since they were probably plain ol black rubbrt might just leave em as is.
next comes the really slow bit makes 80 odd rounds of ammo plus the racks, radios, oh man the list is too big LOL.
im thinking theres still another month on the hull alone.
cheers,
Graham

Howdy fellow Tiger fans, I started modeling again this summer after a number of years and have been having a lot of fun building WWII tanks, mostly German of course. Anyway, I have been checking out this site and others and have really enjoyed and been amazed by all the great info and models being built out there. I just recently discovered these campaigns and think it would be a lot of fun to participate. My question is I would like to enter this campaign with a Tiger I just started last week, the new Tamiya1:48 Afrika Corps tank. I already have it mostly built, I was off work two days last week with this blizzard that hit Missouri. I did not take any pics of it still on the spurs but I assure you I just started it last week and I only bought it on new years eve. Anyway I do have a DML Tiger in the box still which I could also get to in time, not to mention the other 2 Tiger kits in the stash. Thanks, Semper Fi
