Well, my update isn't nearly as impressive as Mr. Shermie above me, but I HAVE PRIMER!

OK so I really just wanted to see how the NeoGrade resin holds paint without any surface prep. I got an old #2 round brush out, and the big ol' bottle of Polly Scale Special Primer Red and went to town. I was impressed with the coverage and the adhesive properties of the resin. I was also a bit concerned with the hatch on the turret as it was molded paper thin and I was worried about coverage.

Here's the rest of of the update. Road wheels, more wheels, and how she's looking... Yeah, I know. Sexy.

Oh and the coaxial MG? I tried Vallejo's Model Color "Gunmetal Blue". I hate it. Will be retouching it with regular "Gunmetal Grey" tomorrow. I know, it's really blue. Don't be hatin' on me for it

Matt: Personally, I've never been a fan of the Sherman. Give me German armor any day. Your build seems to be coming along very nicely. One thing you may want to consider in the future is investing in some Krylon Ruddy Brown. This is very close to the red oxide primer the Germans used during WWII and much cheaper than a bottle of primer.

If this were a German vehicle, I'd be using something with a little more brown in it, say Model Master Italian Leather Brown. As it's Soviet, I found through research that their primer is a bit more reddish in color, although it varied from factory to factory.

No sweat, Matt. I sometimes have issues thinking one thing and then saying another. Probably how my first wife became my ex-wife...

Finally got around to taking some shots of my entry, a Churchill Mk IV AVRE. My initial impression on opening the kit was, what have I let myself in for. But not so, it was a breeze and went together with no major problems, a real pleasure to build .

Now all I have to do is paint it.

cheers

Lovin' the Churchills!

Here is more loving!

That is where I am at. Still got some dusting to do... not sure how I will do it, got to do some testing before.
Those Churchill will surely push the ennemy line!

Hi Gents;

There is some fine building going on here.

I was finally able to get some work done on my Valentine. The photos do not show the true colors, they are more muted, but they will have to do. Still have to mount the machine gun and aircraft crane? Some more detail, a little chipping, and some desert sand (pigments), then the base. Still alot to finish.

Phil - the supplies look great

Ralph - keep at it it's coming along

I'm all done as soon as this base dries and I get a chance to take pics. Might have to wait until after my Tahoe extended weekend though

and yes I model at the bedroom bathroom sink. It's the best lighting in the house!

The base is from Verlinden - $15 on E-bay. I wish I had his skill. I did paint it though

Well thought I was done but the turret stowage and railroad track look a little glossy so I'll have to try something to get it dead flat - any tricks welcomed!

Greg, looks great maybe try some watered down acrylic flat black or dark brown to dull it a bit

Phil: Great build. The weathering is just the right amount. The only criticism I can offer is that the spare tracks shouldn't stand out from the rest of the kit. Tone down the amount of dirt on them.

Im calling her "done", shes had her test run through an inch of puddle so her lower half weathered naturally.

I had a great time on this campaign, and I was able to make it as an excuse to my wife to actually allow me to buy this kit as a x-mas gift to myself (using my own hard saved money of course )

Looking forward to your finished builds guys

Now Im off to build one of my smallest tanks for the "Light Tanks" Campaign

Rei glad you had fun and were able to buy this from yourself. I know how it is. My trustee doesn't understand my buying of two kits, because the version is different.

Should I lighten the rust colour?
