@Joel: Thanks again for your nice words. You‘re right, decal strips would‘ve made it easier. Unfortunately, I don‘t have any handy and don‘t want to plunder other kits.

@Scott: Thanks for your encouraging comment. I agree with Tom, I could use some extension as well, as the canopy problems hold all following steps...

Anyway, I try to keep with the pace.

Cheers
Matt

Well I am finally calling this one done. The Revell Merkava III kit with a KMT-5 mine roller attached. The mine roller system was enhanced with different (and correct) sized chain and the nochri cradles were cut away from the suspension booms and are fully workable. The non-skid surface turned out much better than I could imagine. I am going to enter it in the upcoming AMPS International Show this week. I had a blast in this campaign and hope to catch a few more this year. Keep building guys! Can't wait to see some of your builds!
Sorry for the bad pics. My photography skill sets suck!

Kerry, your Merkava III kit with a KMT-5 mine roller is one fantastic build. Just outstanding. Good luck with it in the AMPS contest. Let us know how you did.

Kerry, great job on the Merkava III. The non-skid surface looks very realistic as well. I still love the mine-roller on it...........makes a real beast out of the tank. Hope it does well at the AMPS show.

Regards, Ian

OK, apart from a couple minor weathering spots, I'm calling this one done. Sorry for the lousy pic.

Monty, from what I can see it looks pretty good. Are you using a photo hosting site like Photobucket or Flickr? If so upload to to that site at no more then 1024x768, then copy the Image link. Just paste that in you post, as you don't need to use the image icon option here.

Well I have the modeling thing down, thought I'd try the "sucky photographer" thing!

Joel_W I loaded the pic in my gallery on this site then copied it over. I have photobucket, I'll try it there.

Thanks guys!

Ah that's better! Nice looking sherman Monte!

Well I was shocked to earn a GOLD at the AMPS International Convention today!!! I had entered as an Intermediate which was my skill level for the past several years. Now that I posted a Gold Medal at the IC, I'll be moved up to the Advanced division...so no more freebees! WooooHooo!

Kerry,
Your M51 Isherman looks great, but you need to retake or at least edit your pictures. All digital cameras have a menu that you need to access and change the White Balance for the type of lighting you're taking your pictures under. Since it's has a blue hue, it looks like you shot under Florescent lights. Just change it. Just remember to change it back to auto, which is your default setting. Also, you can use your flash. If you're concerned about hot spots from the flash just cover it with a tissue.

Joel, you are correct I took the pic in my model room under the flourescent lights. The bulbs are actual day light bulbs so I'm suprised the color is off. I'll try it next time with a flash, that should correct the problem.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Monte, judging from the wood tone of the board, your White Balance is correct for your photo conditions.

I'm by no means any kind of expert on Israeli tanks, in fact, quite the opposite. I have been under the impression that they were usually painted a sand color. What I'm seeing in your photographs is more of a well worn and weathered Bluish tone color. What color and whose paints did you use for the base coat?

Joel,

You are correct that majority of Israeli armor was a desert tan. I was shooting for the Israeli desert tan that has a greenish tint to it. I mixed my own colors of Humbrol paint and went for a sun faded look on the top. There are a bunch of washes on there that are also helping to throw off the color in the pic.

The pic and the actual model look nothing alike.

Hi Scott & crew,

My pics are in the gallery...

This old Academy kit was a pig to build, but...

I finished one! I finished one! I actually finished a campaign build! Woo-hoo! The completion drought is over! I may have to celebrate by starting another build...

Scott, many thanks for the great campaign, and the extended deadline! See ya in the next one.
