I think Tamiya is releasing or has recently released an Elefant in 1/35th. I'm going to have to sharpen my sculpting skills to get those figures just right too. Thankfully the base should be easy on this one.

Okay Sal ... tell me if I'm on the right track. (track, get it? )
OR
I have plenty of kits and PLENTY of pictures too. I just found the M10 photo right here on Armorama in a prior thread.
I have been thinking of this for a few days but need pictures to influence my decision.
What ya think?

It would be the easier build out of the two and one of the few I have that are an action photo.

Would be good if you could locate the building and get a then and now picture if the building still exists.
he proportions of that building look great for a 1/72 build and probably even manageable at 1/35. Would look great if you did the whole building !!!!!!!!

Lots of good looking stuff here guys
@ Phill I know what you mean about always changing your mind but looks lie you picked a real cool looking picture to build What type of tank is that there
@ Jeff, you are definitely on the right track, someone, I dont remember who, build that scene on that M10/Panther, house table and all, they left out the mountains in the background, but it looked great Is that what you will go with
Personally I'm still not overly happy with my photo and Im still looking for something different

Gee, if it's been done that recently for you to remember it, then I should keep looking before I decide. The MBT is nice, but there's no background. Too easy to just make a tank jump PLUS, if I did add something ... it's 1/48th. I don't have stuff in that scale.
So, back to searching. I'll keep the MBT as my default but I must find something else. Too bad I can't find a Clint Eastwood figure in lets say, 1/24th? The opening scene in the movie "Kelly Heroes" would be cool.

As a high school history teacher whose dios populate my classroom (and not, per fiancee's request, our small apartment), I've wanted for a long time to do a Tiananmen "tank man" diorama. This campaign will finally give me an excuse to buy the Trumpeter Type 59, though I'll probably "crop" the photo so I don't have to buy and build four!

Yup, some interesting challenges outside the focal point of the showdown. I can maybe scratch the lamp...but no way on earth I'm gonna screw around with that bus!!! As I think these are all stills from video footage - can you tell I haven't really gone into research yet? - I might have to grab a still that gives my limited skills a manageable scope.
(If I didn't have such fat fingers, I'd just do the whole scene in 1:72 - but 1:35 just looks more impressive and I sacrifice fewer bits to the carpet monster.)

Jeff & Hal, There's an old issue of Military Modeler (Sept '93, vol 20, #9) with a build based on that iconic picture. As wide as the street is the builder was able to leave out the street lamp and still have a sizable base.
