Hi all,
here is the photo i propose to do, i will sculpt the armorer and scratch the bomb(s). I really like the pose and that would be a good anatomy exercice...
The "WWII in color" site legend for this pic is:
"This armorer of the R.A.F.'s middle east command prepares a bomb for its mission against the Italian forces campaigning in Africa. This big bomb is not yet fused, but when it is it will be ready for its deadly work. Photo taken on October 24, 1940."
Let me know if it's OK for this campaign.
Cheers

Hi all, the damned broken ribs are still giving me the good news , but with any luck I can start at the weekend.
@ Nicolas: nice choice mate, especially as the dude is only a little bigger than the business he´s working on
@ Stephen: a couple of hours work yeh? I think this is going to be one of those speed builds again. Do you guys drink rocket fuel instead of tea or coffee in the mornings
@ Sal: is your zimmerit going to be the nice and clean factory state, or beaten up like it ´s been around a while
Paul

Trying to scratch build with only photos and no diagrams means everything has to be proportional to each other. The main tank is too large around the center and the deck for the operator needs to be just over the piping of the air bottles. So the air bottles are just too long.
I already removed about ¼ inch of bottles and shortened the assembly to match and at least now the proportions are correct. Just need to make another main tank and away we go. Also didn’t like the deck stations so I’ll also remake those, they just didn’t look right.
I’ll retake the photos when I get a chance.

Well Paul I was going for the nice and clean state but my Trumpeter Zimm making tools had other plans
So here is what it looked like before primer
I tried to pry open the turret storage bin a little like in my photo and sort of messed it up a bit thats why there is putty on the top of it I guess it will need some more work
Should start on some of the figures today

i would almost guarantee that the figures you used were modeled off of that picture. if not, it is a scary resemblance.

Hi fellas
Now that the campaign has officially kicked off, it's time to get cracking with the kits. A planned, here are some photos (taken yesterday)
The photo the model will be based on
I'll keep you guys posted with the progress
Note that the LVTP-5 is being built for the APC/AFV campaign and then the Santa version for this campaign. If the leader of this campaign has no problem with that, then it's fine with me.

Hi Gary,
Yes I am aware of that. Rule 8 states that you can use vehicles from other campaigns as long as you add to it for this 1 and I love the idea of combining builds together for a diorama my Urban Warfare Campaign entry had 3 other campaign entries mixed into it

Steph I missed your post nice photo, I was gonna do that 1
Paul I missed you progress as well looking good there how do the ribs feel
Ok Tiger is primed with red oxide
I assembled the 4 figures from the Academy set
these guys are bigger then 1/35 scale so the 5th guy that I was gonna use, a Tamiya 1, is way to small so I have to see if I can find something else
Also got 1 side of the tracks cut and cleaned
Also sprayed the tiger with some dunkelgelb tonight so progress is under way

Sal, I will just be doing the crater/water hole in the ground. It will be an interesting project to ensure the zimmerit goes on right and the tank fits into the groundwork correctly.
Jon, beautiful picture of those Paladins. How will you make the smoke and fire?

@Sal I know exactly what you're going through with those figures, I've been in the same predicament far too many times...
What's stopping me now is that fact that the Elefant costs $85 on it's own, so I've got to be wise in how I get my hands on that. The figures will be fun though Best get a start on them I suppose...

By the way, anyone see the episode of Tank Overhaul with the Elefant? The odds are pretty good that the Elefant in the picture could be that same one. Just a guess, but given the fact that most of them were lost at Kursk, it's not that slim of a chance.

Such a shame for such a big beast. At least they didn't scrap it hahaha. The Panther episode was pretty good too
