I don't see a problem..... would love to use the Finnish Stug I was making the parts for but it is WAY to far along.

Which isn't a problem as I also have wanted to do a Stug IIID in North Afrika for a long time. So far the only AM for the basic Stug IIIC/D kit is the decals that are on order.

He he! After I made the concrete armor comment I went shopping ... and buying. I set out to look for the resin concrete kit, but didn't pull the trigger.

I wanted something to go with the StuG and I looked hard at another StuG (like a B or a D), had the Verlinden wooden bridge in sight, wanted some diorama items like a burned out building or a corner ruin.

But I ended up getting some decals, a canvas covered mantlet resin piece and a Saukopf mantlet and barrel set. Looks like I'm going to add one of my Tamiya StuG III G kits to accompany the Dragon StuH.

Maybe before the start I'll add a resin stowage kit and maybe a hybrid kit I saw. Probably spent about the same amount as a dio item and I still need to get something for the Afghanistan Campaign.

Don't think i will go nuts with the concrete armour ..to be honest i don't really know what Mike is sending me which makes it even cooler when it gets here ,,I will be going the friulmodel tracks root tho ..gotta have those and i will replace the track guards ,
Mike is sending me a Lionroar PE set with this kit so guess i wou't be needing to get one of those

Oooo, TRACKS! Thanks for reminding me. I'll stay with the kits offering on the Tamiya but on the Dragon I gotta find an escape, even if it's another $40 on friul's. I am not getting frustrated over cementing tracks again.

I think they'll both be hidden behind some pretty skirting anyhow.

Jeff & Paul,
I respect the rules about using kits that have already been started. The way I build, I often jump around so I have a lot of my kits already started. That's one of the reasons I don't do many campaigns. The last one I asked about using a partial built I was basically ignored so I quit asking.

In the case of this campaign, I'd basically be buying a new StuG kit for this campaign, probably a kit more a model that I already have at least one of already. I figured that if I was going kit scrounging I'd ask about the StuG M-43. Asking about using the partial kits didn't even come to mind. These two StuG kits are among my choices for the "Get Her Done" campaign. I have plenty of options on that one.

If it's a matter of workload I can even do both the C/D & the E. I would probably do them both anyway and this could be the motivator to get them done.

Well Alex (Bluestab), I don't see any objections (as I have none myself) and no one has chimed in as such and even a few have had words of encouragement so let's join in and have some fun with this! We all have until July to think about our entry so this should be a Campaign to remember for sure!

THAT would be a great one to duplicate! No track or road wheels work involved!

I say go for it!

Hi everyone - Just noticed this campaign thread and signed up. I took a header into Dragon's USS Laffey several months back and this is the perfect excuse to set myself a deadline. I'll be building Dragon's StuG III Ausf. F/8 with winterketten - most likely out of the box but you never know. Looking forward to this!

Welcome Bill! I have that kit also and like your choice too.

I noticed the cupola too Paul and all I can say is that maybe the original was damaged in a battle? I can look through my reference material for anything on that but I bet if there is someone will beat me to it.

A pillbox, huh? Thanks Krzysztof! I knew someone knew something about it.

I do wonder about the cupola though and it's placement on the StuG.

I may be looking into something like this

Or maybe a scene from Hungary towards the end of '44 or early '45. Can't wait to start though

(update) I don't know why the photo showed up so small. Anyone have an idea why?

Okay what I'll do is enlist and go with my StuG III Ausf. E as the "go-to kit". I plan to build it as part of StuG Abt 197. Unless something else pops into the stash, I'll go with that one.

I just turned one of my Ausf. Gs into a StuH42 and I should be wrapping up an Ausf F soon so my StuG stash is thinning out. If I see the right kit I might be tempted to build a StuG of Fallschirm-StuG-Brigade 12. I really don't have any source material on those so that's a long shot.

You are using the "Linked Thmbnail" so it links in the thumbnail (the small version). To the right of that is a small icon. Click on that and use the URL there in your post. It is a URL to the full picture.
