Paul, I think "ca" means super glue. Which super glue and a cat is bad news as well
Hi Alex,
of coarse never thought of that
. But that also reminds me that my cat has had the aquaintance
of CA glue and her rear end. It was the gel type (slow drying) and she managed to stick tow cable to it, and went bonkers chasing around the flat trying to remove it
We caught her in the end and removed a large portion of fur,
and all was well. Strange she never sits on my bench anymore, just jumps up and walks around
, I wonder why?
Now to the more serious stuff, be carefull on opening the holes on the upper hull, some of them are not quite rightly placed and the Ø in the instructions are way to large, believe me I know. RB do an excelent drop in replacment barrel for that kit too.
Paul

Paul, indeed ca means: cyano acrylate, which is super glue.
My cats aren`t aloud in the worshop when I`m not there and certainly not on the bench!!
The death ratio of antennas and main gun has been too high
Now I`ve trained the dog to get the cats out of the workshop so I can model with the door opened
.
Nice work people!! this campaing is starting great!

Paul, I'm going to build the S-Tank straight out of the box. I might change up the color scheme though...maybe a winter paint job.

Philippe , i see you have made a very good start! Really nice job so far.
Christopher, you have a very interesting build there. Waiting to see more!
John, i changed my mind regarding the kit i want to build, i'd like to ask if Trumpeter's IS 3M is ok.

G'day team
I have some unfinished business in building the Tank from the 1988 film "The Beast" by Columbia Pictures.
The Beast The bits I have for my "build" are the Tamiya T55, the Legends TI-67 Conversion ( the film makers used a captured Israeli T55), Fruil tracks, etc.
Can I build this for this Campaign ( as it is a movie prop, with obvious "mistakes" - and I am building the Movie version - it won't be strictly an accurate Soviet T55 in Afghanistan ).
Cheers,
Paul

Okay, I have narrowed it down to 3 now. I think they all would work, but would appreciate confirmation!
1) M1 105mm gunned tank
2) Merkava Mk III
3) Centurian (from RAC)
Getting close to finishing my Halftrack for the other campaign and so once I do, I can start this (whichever this ends up being).

Phillippe--looks like your T-72 is coming well. Looking forward to seeing the completed project.
Well, I jumped in feet first with the Tamiya 1/35th scale Chieftain. I decided to forego resin conversions and I am going to scratchbuild all the details to upgrade this kit to a Mk.9, circa 1987. I plan to do a Chieftain from the Kings Hussars, Berlin Brigade, without STILLBREW armor.
I rebuilt the engine deck tonight. The grills were cut, angled and grouped accordingly to reflect the MK.9 engine deck. The scratchbuilding was relatively painless, just some careful cutting. Stay tuned.
Best wishes, Ian

Thanks Philippe----should be a pretty neat scheme to paint. A little "80's digital"-----or perhaps jump forward to the film "Children of Men". Great Chieftain footage!!!
Regards, Ian

Hi Folks,
I am in with a Dragon T-80U.
Not sure how accurate the kit is but I suppose that part of the of the fun is the research. I have ordered a metal replacement barrel as I have read that the kit barrel is a bit oversized.

Eric, it is really not a bad kit at all. The aftermarket barrel will simplify that department. The kit barrel is tough to sand because of the sleeve on it. All-in-all, it will look like a T-80 when you are done.
Regards, Ian

Great choice, Ian. It will be cool to follow that paint job. Are you going to hand paint it or mask it?
Eric, looking forward to see what you find out about that old kit. Please share your research and upgrades. Looking forward to see more.

Hey Jesper......it will be masked. Needless to say, that will be alot of 3M 2090 tape. Good news is that that wheels and rims are all black so those won't have to be masked.

Should be starting soon on this, so here are the obligatory begin shots. I will be doing the Acad Merk III in 1/35. So, I am a Merkava neophyte, so a dumb question right off the bat...
I am assuming that it had the non-slip, but is there a diagram available that shows where it should go? And when did folks start putting this on their tanks? (I mean the real ones!)

@Ian

@Eric
Have fun with your T-80 !
@John
Nice start with your Aussie Leo !
@John
Nice Merkava ! I will do a IDF tank too for this one !
Don't worry about the newspaper close-up shot, if you don't have a starting date pic, it's not the end of the world.. all I want is for us to have some fun building & painting.
@Sal
Welcome !!!
That's an oldie you got there...
Happy new year everyone ! I wish I could spent the evening/night at the bench building...

Am I the only one that sees the humor in Sal's use of a newspaper with a picture of South Korean performing artist Psy to timestamp a tank that I presume is going to be a Korea War era vehicle?
