@ Alex: I told you about the gun barrel and the replacement
from RB. You still did a good job though even though it took you longer
@ Sal: Great progress there mate, those tracks sure are good fun . That was my second Dragon kit that I built (many moons ago )and I nearly died when I saw them.
After loosing some guide horns I decided something has to be done against losing the buggers. I stuck a piece of tape to them and then removed them from the sprue . I didn´t lose anymore after that. Just a tip.

Paul, I knew the barrel was going to put up a fight but I had already decided to slug through it as an OOB build. The molds for this one are a bit rough. I've basically had to clean up every part. That's not to say your comments about using the RB barrel didn't cross my mind while cleaning it up.

Hi guys, I've just ordered DEF Models M60A3 TTS PATTON and I would love to use it for this build.
The DEF Models package includes the Academy M60A1 Rise as a base kit with resin, PE detail up parts, decals & the AFV Club workable track. I'll post some pics when it arrives in about 10 days, but from the DEF Models website this is the kit built up.

I have been trying to get back on the Campaign Trail for nearly a year now, Damn You Real life ! So looking around I spotted this one and with so many familiar faces, how could I stay out?
I have a large project to get done and I know Real Life is planning to get in the way and I expect ,as usual, I will be the guy sliding in under the tapes in July. However......
I walked past the Collection and discovered hiding at the back.
The instructions are works of art in themselves, if a little hard to follow, but you soon get used to them.
You also get every part of the box filled. Some of Gordon's best work.
regards

Hello it's nice to see everyones work so far. I've cleared a couple of projects off my work bench and have now started this. So far I've done the lower hull. No problems so far.

Here is my starting photo all set to go.
The first day on the work bench. Jumped a bit ahead with the turret. Glued the suspension since i didn't need it to work. Still not 100% on which tank to model, major difference being the A or B barrel. I have both on tap.

Francis that Chieftain is coming along nicely, were there any motorisation holes you had to fill?
Thomas I'll be looking forward to see your build come along. Also do you have to do any mods to the IDF Cent to make it into a British tank?
Sal that Ancient kit of yours looks great, can't wait to see it with the tracks on and some weathering.
Irvin, love that NATO Cent whose markings are you going to use Dutch, Danish or British?

After my post I decided to tidy up my Photobucket Albums and deleted the pictures that went with the post.
So that you can make some sense of the of the whole thing here they are again.
Apologies and regards.

Its not so much what you have to change then what is left off. The Jerry cans, 50cal, extra glacis armor. Other wise both tanks are MK-Vs.
Its nice to see the Conqueror in the works I built AAs a few years ago.

Darren I did have to fill the motorization holes, The kit is really showing it's age. It would be nice to have a new Chieftian kit.

I am hoping Tamiya, Meng, or AFV Club will take up the challenge.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing myself particularly with Meng. I would love to see an up to date Chieftain & M60 released as theses are important vehicles and kits that are out there are really showing their age.

Philippe----T-72 looks like it is coming along well.
Sal-----Good looking M-26. One of my favorite tanks.
Francis-----Chieftain looks good. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
I did some more work on my Tamiya Chieftain which I am modifying into a MK9. I added brass handles to the engine deck which I had rebuilt as part of the upgrade. I also scratchbuilt that "thingie" on the rear hull where the kit travel lock for the gun goes. Also filled in the motorization holes on the underside of the hull. Onwards and upwards.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regards, Ian

Nice work streetgang6. Your Chieftain is coming along nicely. Are you using a photo-etch set? Can't wait to see it coming along.
