Sal - Looking good man! I like all the stowage, did it come with the kit?

Ian - I sent you an email. Looking very nice! I started a short run of track and had a similar experience, not too bad. Have you tried fitting the track? On Perth Military Model Site, Terry had issues fitting the heavy track on the sprocket.

Yes all the stowage came with the kit and It also had additional options for more Jerry Cans. The figure was not with the kit but it is a Dragon figure
After/while finishing up my Rad 8 for the Blitz 4 campaign I was working two front and got some more work done on the Puma today

I have a few spots I want to hit with some washes tomorrow morning then I think I will be ready to call this finished as well, comments suggestions are always welcome

Really nice puma Sal. The camo and dust effect on the wheels are just great. One thing I would do is to put a very mat coat of clear on the exhaust they are kind of shinny and rust do not tend that way Two thing actually... I would also (maybe you planed to do it) do a wash on the skin and hair of the figure, they are to bright imo.
Those are sugestions, your bild is great as it is Sal.
Great work!

Hello Sal,

You just about to wrap this beauty up eh? Looks very nice man! I agree with Phil, maybe some more facial shade or tone variations. Or it could just be the camera flash?
Well done Sal!

Thanks Phil and everyone else that commented I added some more black wash to the exhaust to dull it down a bit and more shading to the figure and some other spots as well

I'll hit it with some dull coat tomorrow and call er finished

Worked on the Churchill AVRE some more. The hull and turret have been primed and the tracks are done. All-in-all this has been a very well designed kit on the part of AFV Club. Hopefully I will get my Humbrol SCC 15 OD paint equivalent mixed up this week and start laying down a base coat. I am also working on fabricating some D-Day exhaust pipe extensions as well. Thanks to Nathan for the research on that and coming up with some great photos of that modification....................I probably would have missed 'em, otherwise and I am not very well-versed in Churchills, although I have really grown to like the tank during this build.

Best Wishes, Ian

Thanks Jeff. You ought to get one. You gotta love a tank that has a 290mm mortar in it that you have break open like a .410 to load it....from the outside!!!!!!!

Sal - Another job well done. That has to be about the coolest looking AFV Germany ever built.

Ian - Cheetah is looking very spiffy in her undercoat. Looking forward to see how those exhausts turn out. I'll definitely be building another AFV Club Churchill in the future, awesome kit.

Jeff - I would spring for the Mark IV AVRE or wait for the upcoming Mark III Dieppe kit. The Dieppe kit doesn't have Spigot Mortor but if we can believe the build photos, she comes with the workable track and wading trunks. Hopefully that will inspire Tasca to come out with some amphibious Sherman kits.

I applied the top coat for the AVRE tonight. I used Humbrol 159 and Humbrol 3 mixed in an 8:1 ratio and it worked pretty well. The photos make the model appear slightly greener than it actually is but it seems like a good mix for the mysterious SCC 15 OD. Basically OD with a slight dark green tint to it. I will get the tracks primed with Vallejo Track Primer next and put 'em on. Then it is weathering time..........the best part!!!!!!!!!

Regards, Ian

Ian - Nice looking color, I guess I will try to replicate that with Tamiya OD and dark green. I've heard lots of great things about Humbrol paints but no one carries it in my area. ChrisDM (of Inside the Armour) mentioned in the comments of the 1/72 Dragon Churchill review that the tools were removed from the back of the tank as they would interfere with the rear wading stack. I think I am going to keep my tools on and not worry about it.

Now back to gluing some tracks...

Thanks Nathan. Yeah, I think any OD tinted with black or dark green will work. The Humbrol paint really went on well and I have not been a big Humbrol user so I was not sure what to expect. It is probably the best paint in the worst containers!!!! Thanks for the heads up about the tools on the engine deck too. I took mine off and I could see how there would be a conflict with the waders and the pioneer tools. I am still planning to do mine with the waders removed but the pipes still on, circa D-Day + 1, thereabouts. Still been a great kit so far.... I ended up with 71 track links per side. The hull/fender covers are a snug fit but they went on OK. The track assembly was actually pretty smooth so hopefully yours will go well. Anyway, onwards and upwards.

Regards, Ian

Ian - Thanks man, you read my mind! I was going to ask you how many links. I have two runs of 70 at the moment, a bit tedious, but they do go together well. I keep promising myself to put this on the back burner with six campaigns ending this year crying for attention, but she keeps drawing me back in.

Can't wait to see how your exhaust turns out.

Cheers,
Nathan

The hull/fender covers are on as are most of the remaining details on the hull. Hopefully I will start some post-shading today or tomorrow. Also added some track link armor to the front of the turret.

Best wishes, Ian

Did some shading on the AVRE. Lightened various parts with lighter shades of the base coat and then shot the rivets and panel lines with thinned Tamiya Smoke. Also got some stowage bits picked out as well. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!
